Brad Pitt Refusing To Respond To Angelina Jolie Divorce Filing

Brad Pitt is refusing to respond to Angelina Jolie’s divorce filing. The War Machine actor was supposed to file a response by Wednesday but opted not to give a legal answer to the divorce petition because he wants to protect his children.

TMZ reported that Brad has decided to just let the divorce filing go and not respond because he is afraid that a nasty divorce will cause psychological harm to the couple’s kids. Angelina has asked for sole physical custody with visitation for Brad. He doesn’t agree and wants to split custody of their six children.

If Angelina Jolie wanted to get nasty, Pitt’s failure to respond gives her the opportunity to file for a default motion and she would probably be granted the custody arrangement of her choice. Jolie reportedly won’t do that though, because it has been reported that she isn’t trying to beat Brad. Instead, Angelina is also looking out for what she thinks will be best for the children as well. It seems that both Brad and Angelina are looking out for the best interest of the kids and aren’t trying to battle each other during their separation.

Brad Pitt’s refusal to respond to the divorce filing may also be tactical. It was also reported that the L.A. County Dept. of Children and Family Services hasn’t finished their investigation into Pitt’s infamous private jet altercation with 15-year-old son Maddox Jolie-Pitt. If Brad waits until that investigation is closed before he files a response to the divorce, he stands a better chance at getting what he wants as far as custody of the kids. If he files while the DCFS investigation is still underway, he may have a harder time getting a judge to agree to shared custody.

The Inquisitr reported on Thursday that Brad Pitt finally was able to see Maddox after more than a month of separation. Although Pitt has seen the other five children at least twice since the Jolie-Pitt divorce drama started, Maddox refused to see his famous father.

Right now, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have been following a temporary custody plan that grants Angelina physical custody. Brad has been able to visit with their children but only during visits supervised by a family therapist. There is no news regarding if and when Pitt will be allowed to spend time with the kids without someone else watching.

The Jolie-Pitt divorce and custody drama came about in mid-September when the famous family was on a transatlantic flight via private jet from France to Los Angeles. A fight reportedly broke out at some point during the flight and Brad Pitt has been accused of becoming verbally and physically abusive with Maddox Jolie-Pitt,

It was reported that the arguing was so intense that tarmac workers could here Brad and Angelina yelling at each other before the family had even deplaned. That led to an anonymous report about the possible abuse, leading up to both DCFS and the FBI looking into the altercation. The FBI case has reportedly been closed and any legal action resulting from the altercation will be handled by DCFS. Brad Pitt is not expected to be charged in the matter, though, and has complied with the investigation.

Once the investigation is complete, the next step is to go ahead and complete the Jolie-Pitt divorce. Both Brad and Angelina reportedly want to get the whole ordeal settled without a nasty court battle so it wouldn’t be surprising if they were to settle quietly, out of court.
