Secret Service Agent Arrested, Found Passed Out After Obama Fundraiser [Video]

A Secret Service agent was allegedly found passed out drunk after President Barack Obama’s Miami fundraiser. Police officers discovered agent Aaron Francis Engler passed out on a sidewalk, he was in Florida on the president’s protection detail, according to the Daily Mail.

After Obama waved good-bye to Miami on Thursday, Engler allegedly went out on the town and tied one on. The Secret Service agent’s arrest will likely do nothing to help the agency’s reputation recover after the prostitution scandal in Colombia earlier this year. The elite personal protection division attempted to thwart agent drinking in the wake of the incident at the Colombia hotel.

Police officers were in the area on an unrelated call around 7 am when they noticed a man stretched out on the sidewalk. As officers ventured closer to the individual, they immediately noticed his bloodshot eyes, a strong odor of alcohol, and eventually his slurred speech. Once the Secret Service agent became awake enough to notice the men standing above him, he reportedly began throwing his arms and started to fight with the officers.

After Miami police officers stuffed and cuffed Engler, they discovered his Secret Service credentials. The agent was unarmed and off-duty at the time of his arrest. According to law enforcement statements to local CBS4 News, Aaron Engler was a part of President Obama’s advance protection team for the Florida campaign fundraiser.

Engler was charged with disorderly intoxication and resisting arrest without violence. He was eventually released into the custody of the Secret Service, who flew him back to Washington DC. The arrest report states that Engler was found on Brickell Avenue just hours after the president left the Sunshine State.
