Ben Affleck Still In Contact With First ‘Bennifer’ Love, Jennifer Lopez

If you weren’t living under a rock during the early millennium then you knew that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez had a whirlwind romance documented by a media blitz that could only be described as a circus. The two stars were riding high on the success of their careers when they fell in love on the set of arguably the worst film Hollywood has ever made, Gigli. After Gigli was widely panned by critics, another collaborative film Jersey Girl saw the same fate. The two separated before the latter film was even released.

The separation was played out in the media even though the two weren’t quick to make statements about each other publicly. Shortly after Affleck found love with his now wife Jennifer Garner and their three children, and Lopez latched onto salsa singer Marc Anthony before filing for divorce in 2011.

Now that Affleck is enjoying a quieter life with his family, as well as turning a new chapter as a widely acclaimed director, Ben revealed that he and the Jenny From The Block singer still keep in contact, and shoot e-mails every so often. Affleck told The Hollywood Reporter, “We don’t have the kind of relationship where she relies on me for advice, but we do have the kind of relationship where there’ll be an e-mail saying, ‘Oh, your movie looks great.’ I remember when she got American Idol. I said: ‘This was really smart. Good luck.’ I touch base. I respect her. I like her. She’s put up with some stuff that was unfair in her life, and I’m really pleased to see her successful.”
