Gwen Stefani Replacing Miley Cyrus On ‘The Voice’ For Season 12

Gwen Stefani is back on The Voice!

NBC just announced Stefani’s return as a coach next season and LA Times reports that she is taking Miley Cyrus’ spot.

Did Stefani replace Cyrus because she had enough of her flirting with Blake Shelton?

Stefani was a coach on NBC’s hit singing competition for two seasons. Her last appearance as a coach was back in Season 9, though she made a short cameo as a mentor in Season 10.

Cyrus just joined The Voice this season and is the show’s newest coach along with Alicia Keys.

The two newcomers replaced Christina Aguilera and Pharrell Williams and are currently competing against Shelton and Adam Levine.

Keys is remaining on the show for at least one more season.

“We can’t wait to experience the unique chemistry and energy Gwen, Alicia, Blake, and Adam will bring to season 12,” the president of NBC’s alternative and reality group, Paul Telegdy, explained.

Although Cyrus is taking a break next year, she will return as a coach in Season 13.

“With Miley returning for Season 13, we’re truly ecstatic about the unmatched musical know-how and talent coming together in our coming seasons,” Telegdy shared.

Of course, Stefani’s return to the show next year means that fans will finally see her and Shelton reunite on set.

Stefani may have decided to return to The Voice to work alongside Shelton, but there is another reason why she may have ousted Cyrus.

According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, Stefani was outraged when Cyrus tried to mimic her style on the show and isn’t happy with Cyrus constantly flirting with the country crooner.

“When Miley turned up rocking Gwen’s signature blonde beehive for The Voice’s promotional photo shoot, Blake thought she looked adorable and texted Gwen a quick snap of her look. Gwen was furious,” an insider revealed to OK Magazine. “She’s already suspicious of Miley’s flirty ways, and dressing like her younger self really set off the warning bells.”

Gwen Stefani has dealt with trust issues in the past, so watching another woman flirt with her man on national television is understandably upsetting.

The No Doubt alum separated from longtime husband Gavin Rossdale last summer after she discovered he was cheating on her with their children’s nanny.

While Stefani might be suspicious of Cyrus’ intentions, she really doesn’t have anything to worry about.

After all, the “Wrecking Ball” singer is currently dating Liam Hemsworth and isn’t likely to throw that relationship away for Shelton.

That being said, Life & Style Magazine is reporting that things aren’t looking good for Cyrus’ future with the Hollywood star.

The pair has dated on-and-off over the past few years and has gotten engaged several times.

Cyrus appeared ready to finally tie the knot with Hemsworth until he got down on her for smoking too much weed.

Now, their engagement is on the brink of ending.

“She was screaming at him, telling him he was holding her back and making her hide who she truly is,” an insider told the outlet. “They are still both so upset and angry.”

Despite the fighting over drug use, Hemsworth isn’t ready to give up on Cyrus just yet.

“[He] still hopes they can work things out,” the source added.

Neither Hemsworth nor Cyrus has commented on the breakup rumors or the status of their engagement.

Meanwhile, things couldn’t be going any better between Stefani and Shelton.

According to ET Online, Shelton ditched his casual cowboy look when he accompanied Gwen Stefani for President Barack Obama’s last state dinner at the White House.

The couple joined President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama for the extravagant affair, which included a special performance by Stefani.

Stefani rocked a dark floral-print dress for the dinner while Shelton wore a sharp three-piece suit.

The couple looked absolutely adorable together as they mingled with other celebrities, business tycoons, politicians, and world leaders at the dinner party

Mario Batali prepared the dinner for the guests, which included the likes of Sandra Lee and New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, both of whom chatted with Stefani and Shelton during the event.

Following the elaborate dinner, which honored the Prime Minister of Italy, Matteo Renzi, and his wife, Agnese Landini, Stefani performed a special duet with Shelton, who appeared on stage with his guitar.

After Stefani was done singing, she snapped a few quick photos with a smiling President Obama.

With their relationship stronger than ever, there is little doubt that fans can’t wait to see Stefani and Shelton back together on The Voice.

After all, it was on the set of the hit show that their romance first started, so it’s only fitting that they would return there sooner or later.

Until Season 12 arrives next year, fans can watch Shelton and Cyrus go head-to-head as new episodes of The Voice air Monday and Tuesday nights on NBC.
