Ben Affleck has an incredibly obnoxious habit and has been called out on it by several stars who have found themselves under his direction and suffering from the tic.

The Hollywood star-turned-director apparently has an annoying habit of mouthing his actors’ lines from behind the camera. Blake Lively and Jeremy Renner, who both worked with Affleck on his 2010 crime thriller The Town, called him out on the obnoxious habit.

Affleck has made a good career for himself as a director in recent years with critically successful outings like The Town and Gone Baby Gone before it, but his one tragic flaw, despite being an accomplished and talented director, is that he picked up the bad habit of miming lines from the script while his actors are working. Affleck revealed that both Lively and Renner had to stop takes over the obnoxious tic because it distracted them.

Affleck told the New York Post gossip column Page Six (via MSN), “(It) is a rather unfortunate tendency … I sometimes will slightly lip-move along with the lines of the actors. The first time I did that was on The Town. During one of Jeremy Renner’s close-ups, he was like, ‘Can I talk to you for a second? You’re mouthing my lines.’ It was like, ‘OK, I’ll stop doing that.’ Then Blake said I did it to her. … It’s a problem, and I’m working on it.”

Though Affleck may be working on it, he hasn’t completely kicked the obnoxious habit yet. Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston, who appears alongside Affleck in his latest film Argo, said that he was distracted by Affleck’s tendency to mimic lines as well. “(In a scene) at the end, I could see (Affleck) mouthing my lines. I went, ‘You are doing the thing.’ … He gets so into (it) that he mouths.”

I wonder if outtakes of Ben Affleck’s obnoxious habit will make the Argo DVD/Blu-ray. A man can dream.
