William Byers Augusta: Pennsylvania Man Raped 6-Year-Old Boy Multiple Times And Then Broadcast The Rapes Over Internet
William Byers Augusta, a 20-year-old Pennsylvania man, admitted on Tuesday to raping a 6-year-old boy several times and broadcasting the rapes over the internet, according to Penn Live.
Cumberland County officials found 10 instances of Augusta recording videos of him raping the child, and in one of the videos, another 62-year-old man, Ira Task, was involved. Earlier in March, Task admitted guilty to raping the boy with Augusta and was subsequently sentenced to 18 to 40 years in state prison. He also confessed to being HIV positive and not wearing protection at the time of the incident.
Officials admit that this is one of the most harrowing cases that has ever emerged out of Cumberland County, with District Attorney David Freed saying that he has never seen anything like this in his 20-year long public service career.
“There are still cases that hit the most seasoned police officer or prosecutor directly in the core of our being. Cases of behavior so calculated and depraved and debilitating to the victim that it makes it plain there are those in our society who will callously inflict evil on our most vulnerable.”
This is how the officials nabbed William Byers Augusta.
In July of last year, the Canadian Mounted Police intercepted an internet video in which a young man could be seen raping a small boy. The Cumberland County officials were promptly informed about the origins of the video, and they descended upon Augusta’s North Middleton Township home to arrest him, then 19, for raping the young boy. But while officers thought that this would be the end of the harrowing crime, they were gravely mistaken.
On searching Augusta’s house, investigators found several electronic devices, including a laptop. A further analysis of the devices unearthed nine other grisly videos of Augusta repeatedly raping the young child in his home.

In one video, Byers Augusta kicked the boy in the stomach several times before smacking the 6-year-old in the face and choking him. Augusta then forced the young child to perform oral sex on him.
In another video, the boy was stripped naked, and his hands were tied behind his back before Augusta proceeded to rape him. In most of the videos found in the Pennsylvania man’s house, he can be seen repeatedly penetrating the child’s anus.
Investigators also found several images of child pornography in Augusta’s laptop.
A few days later, another video was unearthed in which Augusta could be seen raping the boy with another man, who was later identified as the 62-year-old Ira Task. According to authorities, Task was in contact with Byers Augusta through Internet chat rooms and Skype, where the two negotiated a sexual encounter with the 6-year-old boy. The negotiations reportedly included exchanging nude photos of the child.
Byers then took the 6-year-old boy to Task’s home on North Second Street in Harrisburg, where the two simultaneously raped the boy while also recording the incident. Task had HIV and did not wear protection at the time, reports CBS News.
Investigators did not comment on whether Byers broadcast the videos online to make money, but people are ready to pay for such disturbing videos on the Deep Web, and it is possible Augusta found some willing buyers for his rape videos.
On Tuesday, William Byers Augusta pleaded guilty Tuesday to charges including 11 counts of rape of a child, aggravated indecent assault of a child, aggravated assault, possession of child pornography, and criminal conspiracy to commit rape of a child.
Augusta is set to be sentenced in January next year.
