Match Preview and Team News

Tottenham’s outing in the Champions League against Bayer Leverkusen could not produce a win as the Spurs could only salvage a draw following a fine performance from captain Hugo Lloris. The goalkeeper was praised highly after the match by manager Mauricio Pochettino, covered by Sky Sports.

“We were better in the first half, they were better in the second. Some brilliant saves from our keeper kept us in the game.

“I can only say good things about him, he’s a fantastic goalkeeper, one of the best in the world.

“He showed in every action that he’s one of the best, I think he’s having the best moments of his career.”

The Spurs boss also commented on the availability of his star duo, Toby Adlerweireld and Harry Kane. Pochettino doesn’t expect Adlerweireld to be ready against Bournemouth, although the Belgian may be available for Tottenham’s next league game against reigning champions Leicester City.

On Harry Kane, Pochettino said, “Harry has no chance for the weekend. He’s only just started running on grass, he’s not training with the team yet, so he’s not ready. There’s no chance for any involvement this weekend.

“Also on Toby Alderweireld, he had the scan yesterday.

“The scan was clear, no problems but we need to wait because it was a very heavy knock and we have to see. It will be difficult for the weekend.”

Meanwhile, Bournemouth midfielder Marc Pugh will be unavailable due to a hamstring injury. Other than that, manager Eddie Howe has no injury concerns.
