NFL Trade Rumors: Tony Romo, Jamaal Charles, Jay Cutler Speculation Includes Broncos And Browns Deals?

The NFL trade rumors heading into Week 7 of the 2016 season are starting to become very interesting, especially when you start talking about big names like Tony Romo and Jay Cutler. Both of these guys have a lot left in the tank and it shouldn’t surprise many NFL fans if they are both wearing a new jersey before the season ends.

Romo, who is reportedly fully healed from a preseason injury that occurred in late August, in which he suffered a broken bone in his back, is expected to start the next game for the Cowboys. Or is he?

According to a CBS report, Romo’s return could be delayed once again, and that shouldn’t surprise Cowboys fans. Right now Dak Prescott is playing at a high level, especially for a rookie. Prescott has led Dallas to a 5-1 record and was impressive in last week’s win over the Packers in Green Bay. So how can you take him out of the starting lineup? You can’t.

That’s why the trade rumors swirling around Romo, who is 36, may hold some truth and may be a smart move for the Cowboys.

The Denver Post is even flirting with the idea that the Broncos should consider the idea of bringing in Romo. In actuality, a deal like this could make sense for both teams.

Romo, just like Peyton Manning before him, has plenty of games under his belt, including playoff experience. The Broncos defense is still tough as nails, however, the lack of experience at quarterback with Paxton Lynch and Trevor Siemian is starting to show. After a 4-0 start, the Broncos have lost two in a row and haven’t looked sharp on offense at all.

So will the Broncos trade for Romo?

They should. The truth is they can’t carry both Lynch and Siemian. They are both young and talented, but one of them is going to be the odd man out. Trade for the veteran and let the backup, Lynch or Siemian, learn from an experienced quarterback. Oh yeah, and Romo just might help lead an already talented team to another title game.

Now on to Jay Cutler.

Cutler’s time in Chicago seems to have come and gone and the NFL trade rumors out there have Cutler possibly landing in Cleveland or L.A. How about a Jay Cutler return to the Mile High City?

Cutler was drafted by Denver back in 2006, and played for the Broncos for three seasons. He may be a nice fit under Gary Kubiak. Remember, you can always go home.

How about this for a crazy NFL trade rumor? Aaron Rodgers for Jay Cutler?

This rumor seems like the most far-fetched, however, you can never rule out anything in the NFL. Rodgers and the Packers are struggling, but would Green Bay really be willing to deal Rodgers at all? And if they did would they trade him to a team in the same division?

Just remember, Brett Favre was traded from Green Bay to the NY Jets, so you can never say never. However, the buzz around Green Bay and Chicago would be unreal if this trade actually happened. Rodgers in a Bears uniform? That would seem like something out of bizzarro world.

Finally, longtime Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles may be on the trading block soon. With the emergence of Spencer Ware and Charles facing the final year of his contract in 2017, look for the Chiefs to start making phone calls soon. If Kansas City can’t deal Charles, they most likely will cut him at the end of the season to avoid a cap hit.
