This season of AHS has always been cloaked in mystery, with the theme only revealed with the Season 6 premiere episode. According to E!Online, the cast for Season 6 would receive their scripts with parts crossed out in order to keep everything under wraps for as long as possible. Actors had to sign disclosure forms and everything was as tight-lipped as possible.

“We X’d things out it scripts. Sometimes certain words were X’d out until the actual take and then the actors were told then, which was fun for them. It was always a great game of suspense of cat and mouse within our production offices that I had with the actors. And I really love that the actors kept in under wraps.”

However, Ryan Murphy has revealed, via TVLine, this will not happen with Season 7 of American Horror Story.

“We’re going to announce [the premise] in the spring. We’re not doing a secrecy thing, but [Season 7] does have a big hook behind it.”

Regardless of whether you loved or hated the secrecy surrounding the theme reveal for Season 6 of American Horror Story, it seems Murphy will be using this device for one season only.

As with everything relating to American Horror Story, there is always a twist or a hook. Fans are seeing this right now in AHS: Roanoke, with a twist being unleashed in Episode 6 of Season 6. But, Murphy was candid with the hook for Season 7, revealing that it will involve “several Freak Show characters.”

Already, in Season 6 of American Horror Story, a link has been established from Freak Show with the revelation that the Motts were the original owners of the haunted house featured in Roanoke. The question is, will more of the Motts be revealed in Season 7 of AHS, or will the characters include those from the carnival show that was led by Jessica Lange’s Elsa Mars?

Ryan Murphy also disclosed that Lady Gaga’s character in Roanoke, Scathach, is officially the original Supreme. For those who tuned into AHS: Coven, you will know that the Supreme was the term used to describe the head witch in a coven. Murphy revealed that Scathach will definitely be returning in a future season of AHS. So, it seems likely that if not in Season 7 of American Horror Story, another season will deal more closely with Scathach and Coven. Once again, pulling together more of the interlacing ties that connect all seasons of American Horror Story.

While not specifically Season 7 news, it has also been revealed that two actors from Coven and Freak Show will return for Season 6 of American Horror Story. Taissa Farmiga, who played Zoe Benson in AHS: Coven, will return in Season 6 of AHS. Finn Wittrock, who played Dandy Mott in Freak Show, will also be making a comeback. Perhaps the characters they play will help to set up the links back to Freak Show and Coven in Season 7 of American Horror Story and beyond?
