WWE News: Update On Why WWE Has Not Fired WWE Superstar Paige, Despite Major Issues With Her

WWE Superstar Paige has been in the news a lot lately, mostly due to her relationship with former WWE Superstar Alberto Del Rio, now going by the name Alberto El Patron. The two met on Del Rio’s last run with the WWE. He would leave a month ago, right around the time he failed a drug test under the WWE Wellness Policy. Funny enough, Paige also failed and was suspended for thirty days… the same as Alberto.

Just recently, Paige failed yet another drug test, forcing WWE to have her suspended for sixty days. She would claim that she failed due to prescription painkillers — obviously due to the severe pain she must be going through due to her injury that also requires surgery. Most every doctor would prescribe painkillers in her position, so this was obvious. Due to WWE paying for her medical treatment, there is a good shot that they know what the doctor found out and what he filled for her.

While she claimed this, she was apparently lying. Obviously, she may be using the drugs a doctor told her to take when needed, but she is apparently also using drugs that she shouldn’t. WWE claimed in a statement that she didn’t fail for painkillers, but rather, she failed for an illegal drug. What she took is not yet known, but the fact that she may have taken something illegal is very worrying for her friends and probably her family, too.

She topped all of this by then proposing to Alberto Del Rio over the weekend. Her family seems very much against it, as well as many fans of hers. Obviously a relationship is just between two people and no one else, but it seems that Paige has left her life behind for Del Rio. A once-promising WWE career seems to in jeopardy, so why hasn’t WWE just released her by now?

According to Ringside News, WWE has not released her due to her injury. That’s right, apparently the WWE does not want to release her now because she was hurt while working in the WWE and cutting her now may not be the best public relations move. Her neck injury may require fusion surgery, and it does seem that once everything is over, she’ll be able to get back in the ring. She’s young enough to make a full recovery.

The issue is that WWE cannot let her go now because she has not done enough for them to release her under the rulebook. She’s simply being a bit odd and clearly attempting to get fired. If she fails another drug test, they’ll have no choice but to let her go. This is probably what she is hoping to do and why she failed two drug tests so quickly. Of course WWE won’t test her most likely until she gets back from her recent suspension. Even then, it is unlikely due to her having to recover from her surgery. This will take her around a year to recover from completely.

Once she gets back, if she is still an issue, WWE may let her go. She won’t breach her contract for any reason as it would cost her money and she would end up being sued for the issue. This is why you should not expect her to just show up on television for another company in hopes that she gets released due to it. She may, but she would also regret doing it because of the major law issues it would cause her.

She mentioned she would be going wherever Alberto Del Rio goes, which means if he ends up going to TNA Wrestling, Ring of Honor, or anywhere else, Paige will follow him there. She won’t be able to work with him in those areas, but there is a good shot that she’ll find a way to get released when she comes back. Obviously with all the trouble she has caused thus far, WWE does not want to keep her around. The hope is that she settles down over time, but you never truly know.
