Kellogg’s has issued a recall for millions of boxes of Mini-Wheats cereal. The company said that the cereal may contain small pieces of metal mesh.

The Food And Drug Administration announced today that millions of boxes of both Frosted Mini-Wheats Bite-Size Original cereal and Mini-Wheats Unfrosted Bite Size cereal were recalled nationwide.

No injuries have been reported from the contaminated cereal. The company is currently working to remove the cereal from store shelves.

Kellogg’s released a statement saying:

“We have initiated a voluntary recall due to the possible presence of fragments of flexible metal mesh from a faulty manufacturing part. Recalled products include only Frosted Mini-Wheats Bite Size Original and Mini-Wheats Unfrosted Bite Size with the letters KB, AP or FK before or after the Best If Used Before date.”

According to the Huffington Post, the recall could cost Kellogg’s between $20 million and $30 million.

The Wall Street Journal reports that this is the second time a supply-chain issue has caused a recall at Kellogg’s. In 2010, the company had to recall boxes of cereal due to an odd color and smell. The company ended up spending close to $100 million to fix the supply chain.

The company said that consumers who believe that they may have purchased a contaminated product should call 800-962-1413. The company apologized in advance for long wait times, saying that it was experiencing a high volume of calls.
