Clemens’ Defamation Suit Against Trainer McNamee Dismissed

Houston, TX (AHN) – A Houston judge dismissed Roger Clemens’ defamation lawsuit against Brian McNamee. The ruling means Clemens can’t file the claim against his former personal trainer again.

Clemens’ lawyer Rusty Hardin filed the lawsuit in January 2008 claiming McNamee was “malicious and grossly negligent” when speaking about Clemens in the investigation of performance-enhancing drugs in baseball.

The Southern District in Houston dismissed some of the lawsuit in February.

Now Clemens and Hardin have to fight a defamation case by McNamee against the pitcher in New York.

McNamee claims Clemens waged a defamatory public relations campaign against him by testifying McNamee is a liar.

Clemens remains under investigation by the FBI and a Washington D.C. grand jury.

They’re looking into whether he lied to Congress in 2008 about performance-enhancing drug use.
