Twilight‘s Nikki Reed and husband and former American Idol contestant Paul McDonald are about to celebrate their first anniversary, and the somewhat-newlyweds have dished on their baby-making plans to Us Weekly.

No, not that kind of baby! Nikki Reed wed McDonald back in October of last year, and, after the star-studded event ahead of the Breaking Dawn release, her new hubby gushed:

“She’s amazing. It’s kind of one of those things you don’t expect. Like, last year I never would have thought I’d be getting married. She’s amazing. She’s the perfect girl. We fit each other. When you know, you know, and she’s the one.”

And for their first anniversary, Reed and McDonald plan to do something constructive — make some music. While Nikki says she was apprehensive at first, there’s something she finds reassuring about creating something creative with her husband of one year:

“I’m excited about it, I’m nervous about it, understandably, and I feel like you can’t really go wrong if it feels organic and there’s something positive behind it … Sometimes he comes up with a chorus, and he comes to me and says ‘I can’t finish this,’ so I write verses.”

Reed admits she doesn’t play an instrument, but she’s still hard at work for the anniversary she and McDonald plan to spend in the studio, explaining how she copes with a lack of instrument-playing skills:

” … he’ll write the majority and I’ll come in with the bridge.”

While Nikki Reed says the project isn’t a baby-baby, it’s close to her heart:

“I’m sure creating a child [laughs] is much stronger, but this is our music baby, you know?”
