FDA Confirms Animal Found Inside Diet Soda Is Frog
The unknown animal found inside a can of Diet Pepsi drank by a man from Ormond Beach, Florida last July was a frog or toad, the Food and Drug Administration has confirmed after testing the product.
The wife of Fred Denegri, who did not finish drinking the soda because of its awful taste, said the confirmation was contained in a report she received from the agency.
The FDA, however, was unable to determine how the animal had gotten or had been placed inside the can, according to Pepsi spokesman Jeff Dahncke.
Dahncke said it was impossible for someone to put the animal in the can because of the speed of the production line in the Orlando plant, where the soda can was made. He said FDA inspectors who checked the plant found nothing wrong in the production process.
The can was part of a case of Diet Pepsi the Denegris bought from the Sam’s Club in Daytona Beach. Fred Denegri had drank the other cans without problems.
The couple have denied placing the animal in the can as others had accused. They are also considering legal action against the beverage company.
