Nicki Minaj is actively working on new music with Drake, it has been revealed.

Just days after the 29-year-old rapper found himself calling it quits with Rihanna, he’s been working overtime in the recording studio with longtime friend Nicki Minaj, who is also said to be gearing up to start work on her next record.

Still, the sudden decision to get back in the studio with Minaj has somewhat left fans puzzled, especially after the 33-year-old shunned Drake in 2015 for dissing her boyfriend of two years, Meek Mill.

Hollywood Life alleges that the musical duo has been in the studio this past week — no word on whether their meetup was a coincidence or whether it was planned ahead of time, but the arrangement couldn’t have been better, an insider shared.

Drake is always working on new music material, with plans to release yet another record sometime next year. And with the news that Nicki is also gearing up to release an album of her own, it only made sense that the twosome got back in the studio and worked on a track together.

The timing, of course, is rather suspicious for fans to comprehend such a move, with many thinking that Nicki Minaj may have had something to do with the breakup between Rihanna and Drake, but sources affirm that this most definitely isn’t the case.

Minaj is still in a committed relationship with Meek, with supposed plans to start trying for a child by the end of next year. The twosome are also said to have discussed marriage plans in the near future, as Nicki tells family and friends that she’s certain she’ll end up being with Meek for a very long time.

If anything, Nicki has more or less just been there for Drake during this difficult time. It seems extra painful for the rapper at this given time since it was just two months ago when he publicly told the world how in love he was with Rihanna.

Taking to the stage to present the Bajan star the Vanguard award at the Video Music Awards, Drake gushed on how he has had a crush on Rihanna since he was 22. And to make things even more exciting, he even admitted to the star making him feel like a little boy whenever he’s in her presence because she has that dominant aura about her.

Sources say that Nicki Minaj has been uplifting Drake in any way possible, assuring him that things are going to get better. After all, the rap star was named one of the highest earning figures in hip hop this year, thanks to his sponsorship deals from Apple and Nike, along with his impressive “Summer Sixteen” tour.

And if that wasn’t enough, Drake is planning to head back on tour next year for his European leg, followed with the aforementioned plans to release yet another album.

News of Nicki Minaj and Drake working on new music together comes just two months after it was revealed that the “Super Bass” hitmaker had purchased a multi-million dollar home out in Bel-Air with Meek Mill, according to Rap-Up, ahead of potential plans to start a family next year.
