HTC Bolt Specs: HTC 10 Look-Alike The Company’s First To Get Android 7.0 Nougat And To Ditch 3.5mm Headphone Jack?

More details about the HTC Bolt specs are surfacing online. If the latest leaks and specs reports are to be trusted, this upcoming mid-range smartphone from the Taiwanese manufacturer will showcase more than one “first.”

According to a report from Pocket-Lint, which cited an HTC ROM developer known as LlabTooFer, Bolt is going to be the first HTC-branded smartphone to run on Android 7.0 Nougat OS at launch.

“You may think that the Google Pixel and Pixel XL actually claim that title since they’re probably being made by HTC too,” the post noted. “However there’s no actual HTC branding on those phones, so they don’t count. And, in fact, they go one better anyway, with Android 7.1.”

The ROM developer also shared that HTC Bolt, with alleged codename Acadia, will have Android Nougat, Google’s newest mobile OS iteration, together with Sense 8 UI that is also found on HTC 10, the tech conglomerate’s 2016 flagship device. In addition to having the same skin, it seems like HTC 10 and HTC Bolt will also share similarities in terms of form and appearance. The Bolt renders that recently showed up online revealed the same metal body, Pocket Lint also shared. When it comes to Bolt’s specs, the leaks also indicated that it may get a rear-facing camera with dual LED flash as well as a front-mounted fingerprint sensor.

As for other possible specs, a Venture Beat post from the prolific tech tipster Evan Blass noted that even though Bolt and HTC 10 seem to have the same look, the former will be a larger smartphone. Bolt will reportedly be equipped with a 5.5-inch display, while the flagship model’s display size is only 5.2 inches.

Under the display, the leaked renders also showed that Bolt will get a fingerprint scanner located between the front-facing capacitive buttons. Moreover, the rumored smartphone is going to use a USB Type-C port.

As for other purported details on the phone’s camera, Bolt is expected to feature an 18 MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and 4K video capture support. The selfie shooter might get an 8 MP lens sensor.

Moreover, when it comes to Bolt’s under the hood specs, the report revealed that it will be packed with 3 GB of RAM. It will also get a 64GB native storage with an option for expansion via a microSD.

But on the top of all these purported specs and features is a remarkable change that HTC may apply to Bolt. Accordingly, the upcoming smartphone is going to be the tech company’s first mobile device to drop the 3.5mm headphone jack. This could be plausible especially now that the tech world is slowly seeing other giant players in the market like Apple removing this once fundamental feature in their latest flagship devices.

Meanwhile, below is another interesting note pointed out by Evan Blass.

“Interestingly, while Bolt does offer HTC’s BoomSound audio-enhancing tech, it’s only available when listening with headphones; the handset itself contains but a single, bottom-firing speaker.”

The smartphone’s release date is still unknown but it is expected to have a global launch. It is reportedly hitting the shelves in the US and select countries in territories like Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

Sprint will allegedly carry the device in the US. In fact, as reported in GSM Arena,HTC Bolt is supposedly set for release on Sprint by the end of this month. If this is true, then, this should mean that Bolt’s official introduction is already on the horizon.
