‘The Walking Dead’ Star Jeffrey Dean Morgan Teases Negan’s Kill Total In Season 7 Premiere

Negan might kill more than one person in the Season 7 premiere of The Walking Dead.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who plays Negan on the show, recently teased that more than one character will die in the season opener.

Was Morgan just messing with fans? Or will the season premiere be bloodier than expected?

According to Comic Book, Morgan revealed that Negan is “not just gonna kill one person” and that he isn’t “afraid to bash skulls.”

This sounds like several members of Rick’s group are in trouble, yet iO9 reports that the actor later debunked this take and denied the popular fan theory.

“That’s not what I said,” Morgan later clarified with Variety Latino. “I did an interview with this guy and I was talking about Negan’s arc and what he does in the course of being Negan on The Walking Dead. Instead of talking about the one person Negan kills — because Negan kills a lot more than one person on the lineup. And somehow he pieced that all together in such a way that it turned into the article that he wrote. It was to get people fired up. Negan does kill a lot of people in the next couple of years. Before we even meet him he’s killed a lot of people. Negan’s been around for a long time.”

Despite Morgan’s comments, many fans still think that Negan will kill more than one character in the premiere.

A new promo trailer for the coming season shows Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Negan talking to each other in the moments after he bashed someone to death with his bat, Lucille.

Rick is shown with a healthy streak of blood across his right cheek, which many fans think means somebody to his right died.

This leaves a number of different options for which character dies, including Daryl (Norman Reedus), Maggie (Lauren Cohan), Abraham (Michael Cudlitz), and Glenn (Steven Yeun).

“I mean he’s got a bloody face,” Morgan stated. “It could be splatter. I could’ve slapped him. I could’ve spit on him. All I’m going to say to tune-in on the 24th and you’ll get all those answers. So keep coming up with the theories, I love them. Everyone on the show loves the theories. You only have like ten more days or something. It’s almost upon us.”

While nobody knows for sure who gets the business end of Negan’s bat, Huffington Post is reporting that the two likeliest candidates are Glenn and Abraham.

In the comics, Negan beats Glenn to death with his bat, so it makes sense that the show would follow the source material.

If a second character dies as well, then it’s entirely possible that Abraham gets up to defend Glenn and is subsequently killed.

Of course, the show has departed from the comics in the past, so there’s no telling who will die when The Walking Dead returns later this month.

While fans have no idea who dies in the coming episode, Morgan sat down with Entertainment Weekly and shared a funny story about how much fans hate Negan.

“I was with Norman,” Morgan began. “I spend a lot of time with Norman because he lives in Georgia. He might not be alive on the show, people, just because I’m saying I was with Norman, but we had been riding motorcycles all day and we were in the middle of nowhere and stopped to get a coffee. And this lady is at our car, and she’s probably 80 years old, and she comes up and just flips me off and says ‘F**k you!’ And Norman falls off his chair, laughing, and I’m like ‘Whoa! Whoa!'”
