What do Game of Thrones cast members do in the painfully long off-season? Emilia Clarke does Broadway, specifically Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen in the HBO mega-hit Game of Thrones is going to star as Holly Golightly in Richard Greenberg’s new Broadway adaptation of Truman Capote’s classic novel, Breakfast at Tiffany’s.The show will premiere at the Shubert Theater in New York in February of 2013, after Clarke’s responsibilities to Game of Thrones have wrapped for the highly-anticipated third season.

Greenberg won a Tony for his work on Take Me Out, and has written the script for the new Broadway version of Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Sean Mathais is set to direct the stage adaptation, reports Zap2it.

“The goal of this version is to return to the original setting of the novella, which is the New York of the Second World War, as well as to resume its tone — still stylish and romantic, yes, but rougher-edged and more candid than people generally remember,” Greenberg said in a statement obtained by Entertainment Weekly. “Capote was a great writer and a natural maker of plots and ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ has a drive that makes it very alluring to dramatize.”

No word on whether or not Jason Momoa is available to play Holly’s love interest, Fred.

For the ten of you who don’t know, Clarke will be playing the character made popular by Audrey Hepburn in the 1961 film adaptation of Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Pop culture association with the story generally tilts more toward the movie than Capote’s novella, so it will be interesting to see how Greenberg’s take is received.
