ABC Halloween ‘Spooktacular’: ‘DWTS,’ ‘The Chew,’ ‘Jimmy Kimmel,’ ‘Great Pumpkin,’ And More — Celebrate Two Weeks Of Ghoulishly Good TV


Halloween doesn’t have to be scary. Starting Monday, October 17, ABC is making the spooky holiday a whole lot of fun with a two week “Spooktacular” that will feature special Halloween episodes of your favorite shows like The Chew, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Modern Family, and General Hospital, as well as a live Dancing with the Stars special where viewers will be treated to some fabulously frightening performances in the ABC ballroom.

And there’s more! In addition to a lineup of daytime, primetime, and late night Halloween TV specials, ABC states that it will air two specials that are perfect for a night of family fun — It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, a classic that turns 50 this year, and Toy Story of Terror.

Monday, October 17

The Chew(1-2 p.m. ET) — Every day this week, the cast and their guest stars will prepare Halloween treats and offer up some fun entertaining tips. Monday’s celebrity guest is Hilary Duff.

Tuesday, October 18

The Chew (1-2 p.m. ET) — Tuesday’s celebrity guest is Victoria Justice who stars in the Fox movie The Rocky Horror Picture Show that premieres on October 20.

Wednesday, October 19

The Chew (1-2 p.m. ET) — Wednesday’s celebrity guests HGTV’s Chip & Joanna Gaines.

It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (8-8:30 p.m. ET) — The classic Peanuts special celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and ABC will air the half-hour animated show on both October 19 and October 28 — the second showing has an added bonus cartoon (see details below).

Toy Story OF TERROR! (8:30-9 p.m. ET) — This is Disney-Pixar’s first special made for television and it features some of your favorite characters from the Toy Story films including Buzz, Woody, Jessie, Rex, and Trixie.

Thursday, October 20

The Chew (1-2 p.m. ET) — Thursday’s celebrity guest is Wanda Sykes.

Friday, October 21

The Chew (1-2 p.m. ET) — Thursday’s celebrity guest has not been announced by ABC, but expect the cast to share plenty of great Halloween recipes and party decor ideas.

Last Man Standing (8-8:30 p.m. ET)The Baxter family prepares for their annual Halloween party.

Dr. Ken (8:31-9 p.m. ET) — The Park family brings D.K.’s scary Korean ghost story to life.

Monday, October 24

The Chew (1-2 p.m. ET) — It’s another week of Halloween fun with celebrity guests and the premiere of the new book, The Chew Approved.

Tuesday, October 25

The Chew (1-2 p.m. ET) — Tuesday’s celebrity guest is chef and author Ina Garten.

The Middle (8-8:30 p.m. ET) This episode is titled, “Halloween VII: The Heckoning.” Frankie is surprised to discover that if she and Mike ever got divorced, their children would choose to live with Mike.

American Housewife (8:30-9 p.m. ET) — Katie competes in the Westport Halloween “Zombie Run.”

Fresh Off the Boat (9-9:30 p.m. ET) Louis tries to scare Jessica into the Halloween spirit, but little does he know she is busy writing her first horror novel.

The Real O’Neals (9:30-10 p.m. ET) — Kenny refers to Halloween as “the gay Super Bowl” and heads to Boystown to watch the holiday costume parade.

Wednesday, October 26

The Chew (1-2 p.m. ET) — Wednesday’s celebrity guest has yet to be announced by ABC.

The Goldbergs (8-8:30 p.m. ET) — Erica forces Barry to go to a costume dance with her and Adam tries to write a horror story.

Speechless (8:30-9 p.m. ET) — Jimmy is upset that no one wants to dress up for Halloween.

Modern Family (9-9:30 p.m. ET) – The Dumphys try to make Luke’s Halloween party a hit with a visit from Rod Skyhook.

Black-ish (9:31–10 p.m. ET) – The neighborhood participates in a Purge-like “mischief night” where petty crimes become legal.

Thursday, October 27

The Chew (1-2 p.m. ET) — Thursday’s celebrity guest is actor Colin Hanks

Friday, October 28

The Chew (1-2 p.m. ET) — Friday’s celebrity guest has not been announced by ABC.

It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (8-9 p.m. ET) — ABC will air a one-hour special in honor of the program’s 50th anniversary that includes the 30-minute special and an additional 30-minute bonus cartoon, You’re Not Elected, Charlie Brown.

Monday, October 31

The Chew (1-2 p.m. ET) — Co-hosts Mario Batali, Michael Symon, Carla Hall, Clinton Kelly, and Daphne Oz celebrate the show’s sixth Halloween with costumes, food, and a visit from country singer Kelly Pickler.

General Hospital (2-3 p.m. ET ) – The residents of Port Charles celebrate Halloween at the Metro Court hotel. Franco and Jason clash, while Sonny has a big reaction to one of the Halloween revelers.

Dancing with the Stars (8-10 p.m. ET) — The remaining couples will perform individual Halloween-themed dance routines.

Jimmy Kimmel Live (11:35 p.m.–12:30 a.m. ET) — Jimmy and all of his guests will be dressed for Halloween. Viewers can expect to see the always-zany Half & Half Halloween costume pageant, and, later in the show, Kimmel will ask parents to take part in this year’s participate in his yearly YouTube Challenge — “I Told My Kids I Ate All Their Halloween Candy.”
