Pippa Middleton And James Matthews Wedding Details: Find Out The Latest, Including What Role Duchess Kate Will Play

The summer was filled with excitement for Pippa Middleton and her beau, James Matthews, along with their families, at the news of the couple’s engagement, which was announced at the end of July. Pippa has remained quite secretive about the big day, and little was made known as to what role Duchess Kate, Pippa’s royal older sister, would play in the ceremony. Pippa was the star maid of honor for Kate during the 2011 royal wedding, yet there has been rumored controversy over whether Kate will return the favor. After all, Pippa would like to be in the spotlight on her big day and not be in her sister’s shadow.

Some details about the engagement have since been made known, including the rock that Matthews proposed with. The hedge fund manager gave 33-year-old Pippa, a Reading native, a ring worth $120,000. Jewelry expert Michael O’Connor spoke with US Weekly about the cut of diamond.

“The Ascher-cut center diamond looks to be about 3.5 carats. It’s set in a platinum bezel setting surrounded by white, brilliant-cut diamonds, adding about another 1.5 carats.”

Although there has still been little made known about the big day between Pippa and James, the announcement of their engagement at least gave fans and onlookers a year, the International Business Times explained.

Miss Pippa Middleton and Mr. James Matthews are delighted to announce they became engaged on Sunday 17 July and plan to marry next year.”

Many are expecting the event to be extravagant and for Pippa to have a hand in all of the arrangements, seeing as she has worked in the party planning industry and even written a book, Celebrate, about throwing the perfect party. The duchess’ sister has reportedly also possibly started making flower selections for the occasion, as Us Weekly reports that a source spotted Middleton on September 13 at an “upscale flower shop” in London, where she appeared to be looking at ivory and lace bridal bouquets.

It’s also been reported that the beauty wanted talented British songstress Adele to perform at her wedding, yet the star was too expensive for the couple’s wedding budget. Adele is said to charge $1 million for a private performance, which Pippa and James would be requesting.

Although there had been much talk and rumors flying in regard to a feud between Kate Middleton and her sister, such tales have been reported as false by Kensington Palace, which shares that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge couldn’t be happier for Pippa.

IBT notes the announcement by the palace.

“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are absolutely delighted with the news.”

The palace spokesperson also shared that as for the rumors about Kate not being a part of the wedding, the duchess is set to play a small role so the event does not “turn into a circus.”

Additional rumors swirled around the royal family and their apparent dislike for Spencer Matthews, the reality TV star brother of James, who is often quite free in talking to the tabloids and puts on some questionable antics. However, the palace also confirmed that James and Pippa will, in fact, be inviting James to the event and that neither Kate nor Queen Elizabeth has attempted to keep him from the big day.

Sources are speculating that the wedding may take place in early summer of 2017, seeing as there have been some rumors that it will be an elegant countryside event. Regardless of time and place, the nuptials between Middleton and Matthews are sure to be spectacular and will likely be a hot topic for months following.
