Ken Bone’s AMA On Reddit Was Everything You Hoped It Would Be

Ken Bone recently made the brave decision to host an AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit on Thursday, October 13, 2016. He made the even braver decision to use his real username, StanGibson18, instead of making a temporary one. This choice allowed people to look up anything he’s said in the past, and there were some gems. In an ask Reddit post from three months ago, Ken admitted to using MS Paint to forge auto insurance documents for an old job while he saved enough money to get his insurance reinstated.

He also answered pressing questions about his new found celebrity status, and what exactly Bill Clinton said to him after the debate. According to Ken, Bill spoke to him about the peak of the coal industry in the 1920s and how it has evolved as America has changed. In the AMA, he also revealed his favorite band (Radiohead) and told the world where he fell in the topical, “Is a hot dog a sandwich?” question.

For the record, Ken feels that it is not, writing, “Sandwiches are bread on top, bread on the bottom. Hot Dogs are side to side with a wrap around. Doesn’t count.”

Here, Ken fielded a pressing question on everyone’s mind.

That’s an important question, isn’t it? It’s too bad that America can’t take this tactic with the presidential race. Having both Hilary and Donald in the White House might not get much accomplished, but it would be really amusing.

Snoop Dogg also stopped by the AMA, reiterating his invitation to Ken Bone, who responded with his now signature grace and self-deprecation.

Snoop originally sent Ken an invite on October 11, asking him to hang out and partake in, presumably, medicinal marijuana after Snoop saw Ken during the presidential debate.

Ken Bone responded in his AMA that he couldn’t take Snoop Dogg up on his offer because the power plant that he works at has a strict drug testing policy. That’s right. The man who asked a question about how the candidates would deal with displaced fossil fuel workers works at a coal-burning power plant.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably seen some mention of Ken Bone in the media. He first came to the nation’s attention during the second presidential debate at Washington University in St. Louis. He was one of the pools of undecided voters who were invited to sit onstage and listen to the debate. A select few were also allowed to ask questions of their own.

His question was focused on energy and transition from traditional fossil fuels to clean energy, asking Trump and Clinton, “What steps will your energy policy take to meet our energy needs while at the same time remaining environmentally friendly and minimizing job loss for fossil power plant workers?”

After the debate was over, he did what anyone would do and took pictures of his historic surroundings. With a disposable camera.

While much of the post-debate discussion was on who won the debate and how Trump and Clinton sparred, some news outlets, such as CNN, proclaimed Ken the real winner of the debate. And in a way, he was. According to the man himself, he went from seven followers on Twitter prior to the debate to an amazing 235,000 as of October 14, 2016. Since then, Ken has gone on to inspire a Halloween costume, several video mashups by R&B artists, and in true American fashion, is now shilling for UberSelect in exchange for Uber credits. He has also made appearances on CNN, Jimmy Kimmel Live, MSNBC, and multiple other media outlets. He is also encouraging people to vote for whoever they feel is the best choice and hasn’t publicly disclosed who he will be voting for, not wanting to sway other undecideds.
