Barack Obama’s Childhood Friend Kristen Caldwell Interviewed By PBS
Frontline released a transcript from an interview with President Barack Obama’s childhood friend, Kristen Caldwell, earlier this week. The lengthy interview covered a vast array of issues concerning a young Obama, who was known by his classmates as Barry. Both the president and Caldwell attended the exclusive Punahou School together in Hawaii. The woman claims that she believes her old friend attended the academic facility of scholarship and informed his school pals that he was Kenyan royalty and an Indonesian prince during their elementary years.
Obama, like other students who attended the Punahou School on reduced tuition, often worked at the tennis courts on campus, the primary hangout spot for the majority of the student body, according to transcript excerpts.
When asked about President Obama’s appearance and alleged frequent embellishment of his heritage, Caldwell has this to say:
“I can picture him as this slightly, chubby is too strong, but rounded, short little guy. And he told us that his father was an Indonesian king and that he was a prince, and after he finished school he was going to go back, and he would be a ruler in Indonesia.”
When the PBS Frontline journalist asked Caldwell why she believed the boy she knew as Barry Obama told tall tales, as children often do, she offered this insight:
“I would think he would have felt very, very fish-out-of-water, very uncomfortable, and like anybody, he’d have to have a little bit of bravado to mask the insecurities.”
President Obama’s former classmate also noted the pair spent quite bit of time together at the tennis courts and that her father often gave him rides home when it was raining; but she did not know who he lived with at the time. Barack Obama reportedly lived in Hawaii until he was six, moved to Indonesia until he was 10, and then arrived back in Hawaii to attend school. Caldwell also discusses an ugly racial incident during a high school tennis tournament and the Choom Gang during the PBS Frontline interview, according to excerpts republished on The Blaze.
