Justin Timberlake Netflix Concert Film: Singer Admits Nervousness Over Not Hiding Behind A Character, Dedicates Film To Prince

Singer Justin Timberlake added his name to the Netflix line-up in an epic way last month and his biggest fans were beyond excited that he did!

The final stop of his internationally successful 20/20 Experience World Tour in Las Vegas was filmed by Oscar-winning director Jonathan Demme and turned into an impressive production – allowing fans around the world to enjoy a front-row seat to Timberlake’s performance without having to leave their homes.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight before the Netflix special was first released, Justin Timberlake opened up about his emotions while he awaited the big day. When it came to how his concert special would be received after it was released to the world through Netflix, Timberlake made it very clear that he was nervous.

“I’m nervous because there’s not a character that I can sort of hide behind.”

Over the past two decades, Justin Timberlake has been primarily known for his music. However, the former N’Sync star and Grammy-winning recording artist has also made a name for himself in Hollywood as an actor. Starring in a number of different films from various genres, Justin has been able to prove time and time again that he is a lot more than just a singer.

The Netflix special of Timberlake’s concert, though, still introduced him to unexplored territory in a sense simply because it was his first concert special aired on the streaming website. In addition to having his concert performance filmed and screened to the rest of the world on an endless loop of streaming and binge-watchers around the world, Justin Timberlake had the privilege of working with an artistic director throughout the entire process.

Justin admitted in the same interview that he was captivated by the pure talent of Jonathan Demme – a talent that he had the chance to witness firsthand when he realized how Demme was blending the entire production together.

“What makes my head explode is trying to understand the way this man took all those visual elements and musical elements. How did you do it? How did you dream all that stuff up? This is unlike any experience I’ve ever had. It feels like an embarrassment of riches, really.”

There have been numerous tweets and Facebook posts about Justin Timberlake’s Netflix special that have been shared in the weeks that have passed since it made its big debut in October.

It is clear that whatever Justin Timberlake has planned next for his music career, he can cross having a successful concert special on Netflix off of his To-Do list. Perhaps the fact that he decided to dedicate his concert film, Justin Timberlake + The Tennessee Kids to the late legendary singer Prince makes it even more special.

“It just feels right to dedicate the film to him.”

Timberlake stated in his interview with Entertainment Tonight that Prince’s influence “is all over everyone’s music and there’s so much that I feel like I’ve maybe consciously and unconsciously borrowed from him that it felt…right.”

Grammy-award winning artist and songwriter. Impressive actor. Married father. The world of his fans and critics will simply have to wait and see what Justin Timberlake will do next.
