‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 8 Features Stefan/Caroline ‘Steamy’ Moments, The Return Of Miss Mystic Falls, And More Mysteries [Spoilers]

The Vampire Diaries Season 8 will serve as a farewell for the long-running TV series from The CW and fans are itching for more updates about what could happen in the show’s final season.

Fortunately, The Vampire Diaries showrunner Julie Plec and actress Candice King were generous enough to share information on what is to come after Damon and Enzo went berserk following their encounter with a mysterious force in the Armory’s vault in the Season 7 finale.

Speaking with TV Line, King shared her thoughts about how her character, Caroline, would continue her steamy relationship with Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) despite the fact that she is the mother of Gemini twins.

“These characters are in a great spot at the top of the season,” she told the outlet during an interview while shooting at the show’s Atlanta set.

At the time, she recalled how Season 7 ended with high hopes of a prospering relationship for the BFFs-turned-couple when Stefan and Caroline finally get back together after the brooding Salvatore brother left the surrogate mother of twin Gemini witches to flee from the psychotic vampire Huntress.

“I liked the tone they left Season 7 on — with Damon and Enzo and all that death and destruction — but coming into Season 8, there are some nice light, steamy moments to get you started.”

But “steamy” moments aside, The Vampire Diaries Season 8 will prove to be the most exciting of all. After all, it is the show’s final season and their chance to engrave a mark in their fanbase.

For one, Stefan and Caroline — more popularly known as “Steroline” to their fans — will face challenges that will test their relationship yet again as if they haven’t been through enough in Season 7.

“They have to balance some pretty adult things, in terms of Caroline and Alaric co-parenting these children and having this supernatural blended family,” King explained.

Aside from that, she also noted that Damon would get in the way of the couple and Stefan’s happiness again as the younger Salvatore always chooses to save his brother even if it means sacrificing his own happiness.

“Also, Stefan is so attached to protecting and saving Damon. He’ll always choose his brother first, and that’s going to be a really big thing for this couple.”

But that is not the most exciting part yet as Plec revealed some key moments that occurred in Mystic Falls in past seasons that would make a comeback during Season 8.

“We have the carnival that was in the top of season 2, which is a really big episode for us when Caroline first became a vampire. [That] makes a reappearance.”

Aside from that, Plec also revealed the return of Founder’s Day as well as the infamous Miss Mystic Falls which she hinted that they will “revisit in small ways” in Season 8.

Of course, the final season of The Vampire Diaries will also venture into things that have left fans a sense of mystery with things that the audience has yet to see and have only heard about in the show.

“This season is all about finally telling the stories that we’ve talked about over the years but have never seen. In fact, we’re shooting [a flashback] right now,” Entertainment Weekly quoted her saying.

“And this one in particular is the time where Stefan was known as the Ripper of Monterey, so we’ll get a little glimpse of that world, which we’re all very excited about.”

The Vampire Diaries Season 8 premieres on Friday, October 21, at 8 p.m. ET with an episode titled “Hello, Brother.”
