BTS Breaks Records With ‘Blood, Sweat & Tears’ — Big Hit Entertainment K-Pop Group Earns Second Fastest Time In Reaching 10 Million Views For Music Video [Music Video]

At this very moment, the one K-pop group dominating right now is BTS. Also known as the Bangtan Boys or Bulletproof Boy Scouts, BTS recently released made their K-pop comeback with their second full-length studio album, WINGS. It was so popular that they already sold half a million copies in pre-orders alone. As for its title track “Blood, Sweat & Tears,” in less than an hour, it achieved an “All-Kill.” What that means is the song was ranked No. 1 on all of South Korea’s local music charts including Melon, Mnet, Bugs, olleh, Soribada, Genie, Naver Music, and Monkey3. On top of that, all 15 songs on the album have taken the top 15 spots for Melon, Genie, Mnet, and Naver Music.

As mentioned earlier, BTS is dominating and it seems the popular K-pop boy group has another accolade to add to their list pertaining to WINGS and “Blood, Sweat & Tears.” Reportedly, the music video for “Blood, Sweat & Tears” now holds the prestige of being the second fastest K-pop music video by a group to reach 10 million views.

“Blood, Sweat & Tears” achieved 10 million views sometime before 5:41 p.m. KST on Tuesday, October 11, as reported by Soompi. According to the source, the music video for the WINGS title track reached the 10 million mark in less than 42 hours. This means BTS just beat their previous record, held by The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever‘s “Fire” in 75 hours, by half the time. However, its first day was probably the most impressive as “Blood, Sweat & Tears” reached 1 million views in six hours followed by 5 million views in 18 hours. Analyzing the numbers, it is clear the viewership slowed down prior to hitting 10 million views.

Having a K-pop music video reaching the 10 million view mark is a phenomenal accomplishment for BTS simply because they are signed to Big Hit Entertainment. That alone should mean BTS would be unable to achieve the level of success they have achieved because Big Hit Entertainment is technically a small company and agency. BTS is technically their only K-pop group at this time. Yet, the A.R.M.Y. (devoted fan club of BTS), both domestically in South Korea and internationally, have made them some of the biggest competitors among K-pop groups signed to the “Big Three” (SM Entertainment, YG Entertainment, JYP Entertainment).

Girls’ Generation previously held the record for the fastest time a music video by a K-pop group reached 10 million views with “I Got A Boy” (which is currently their most popular music video on YouTube currently at over 173 billion). As a matter of fact, when BTS’ “Blood, Sweat & Tears” achieved the 10 million views in the fastest time to dethrone the previous record holder, they did not just dethrone any K-pop group, but the most popular K-pop girl group in K-pop history, Girls’ Generation. According to SBS Pop Asia, Girls’ Generation’s music video for “I Got A Boy” reached 10 million views in 55 hours. They would hold onto that top record for more than three years.

Still, BTS would not be able to dethrone the K-pop act who holds the record for having a K-pop music video reaching 10 million views in the fastest time: Psy with “Gentleman.”

Ultimately, “Blood, Sweat & Tears” reaching 10 million views in the second fastest time is just one tidbit that makes WINGS the ending to an extremely successful year for BTS. For K-pop fans, especially A.R.M.Y., who want to own their copy of the K-pop group’s second studio album, they can purchase it at YesAsia. The standard version is just the album, while the special edition version (known as the W+I+N+G Version) consists of four discs. There is also an option to buy either version with a poster in a tube.
