Blue Lives Matter Boycotts Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Over Alleged Message Of Violence Against Police
Blue Lives Matter is boycotting Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, and they want all citizens of the United States to do the same. Why would they do that?
The counter movement believes Ben & Jerry’s ice cream is promoting a message against police by supporting Black Lives Matter.
The whole problem started in 2014 when Michael Brown was slain in the actions of a police officer. The man had been unarmed, a fact which prompted black communities to unite in a protest against police. Much like Los Angeles in the 1990s following the beating of Rodney King, there was a riot which tore up the city of Ferguson, Missouri, and Black Lives Matter was born.

The message which Black Lives Matter has been attempting to relay is that the black community has been held down, either by laws or simply treatment by others, for over 400 years. Any unnecessary force used by a government official will no longer be tolerated by the movement. Even a rash of mysterious deaths of black women in jails in July of 2015, starting with that of Sandra Bland, raised more than a few eyebrows.
Ever since, any time the news reports another black man being shot and killed in confrontation with police, Black Lives Matter stands ready to protest.

Now the police are attempting to gain some dignity back, as retired and current officers have formed Blue Lives Matter. The message is that not all police are racist and violent.
Technically, if everyone acts according to the law, and police are doing their jobs correctly, there won’t be a problem. Unfortunately not everybody can just get along. There are militant activists just like there are racist police officers, due to the fact that there are bad people in every group.
Ben & Jerry’s recently began supporting Black Lives Matter and their stance on violence against the black community. Now Blue Lives Matter is fighting back, protesting the frozen treat company due to the negative image they feel is being perpetuated, according to Canada Free Press.
“By spreading these false and misleading statements, Ben & Jerry’s lends an appearance of legitimacy to the baseless claims that police officers are killing men based on the color of their skin. This message has inspired the assassination and attempted assassination of police officers, and it costs officers their lives. By openly supporting Black Lives Matter and attacking law enforcement, Ben & Jerry’s is sure to anger most Americans who do not agree with the political causes that they are supporting. Blue Lives Matter is calling on all Americans to boycott all Ben & Jerry’s products and send a message that we do not agree with Black Lives Matter or their goals.”
Blue Lives Matter’s stance against Ben & Jerry’s could escalate into the supposed wrong they’re attempting to right, as the ice cream company has stated they hold no ill will against police, as reported by Mic.
“We want to be clear: we believe that saying Black lives matter is not to say that the lives of those who serve in the law enforcement community don’t. We respect and value the commitment to our communities that those in law enforcement make, and we respect the value of every one of their lives.”
It all seems to be a big misunderstanding, and Blue Lives Matter’s call for the boycott on Ben & Jerry’s ice cream could easily work against them and the positive public image they’re trying to earn back.
