Selena Gomez Receives American Music Awards Nominations Amid Justin Bieber And Brad Pitt Split Rumors

Selena Gomez’s music is being honored as she continues to focus on her mental health, possibly in rehab.

As the singer tends to her personal issues after announcing the cancellation of her Revival World Tour, news has hit the web revealing Selena Gomez has been nominated for a couple of American Music Awards.

According to a report by ABC News on October 10, Selena Gomez is nominated for the 2016 Artist of the Year Award, along with Adele, Beyonce, Justin Bieber, Drake, Ariana Grande, Rihanna, Twenty One Pilots, Carrie Underwood, and The Weeknd.

Selena Gomez is also nominated for the award for Favorite Female Pop/Rock Artist, alongside Adele and Rihanna.

As Selena Gomez’s fans will surely recall, the 24-year-old delivered an emotional performance of “The Heart Wants What it Wants” during the 2014 American Music Awards. The track, which was believed to have been written about her up and down romance with Justin Bieber, brought the singer to tears while on stage and also resulted in a “Thank you, Jesus” at the end of the performance.

Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber dated exclusively from 2010 until 2012 and have been spotted together occasionally ever since their split. Most recently, Selena Gomez showed her support for Bieber by attending his Purpose World Tour show at the Staples Center in Los Angeles in March. Before that, Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber were seen together in Beverly Hills, California, where Bieber had been staying at the time.

While Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber have prompted reports of a reunion numerous times in the past year, they have not yet rekindled their relationship. That said, they did partake in a flirty interaction earlier this year on Instagram in which Bieber shared a throwback photo of the two of them and Gomez responded with the message, “Perfect.”

Months later, Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber were involved in a not-so-friendly encounter, which resulted in allegations of cheating on both sides. Following a threat made by Bieber in which the “Cold Water” singer claimed he would make his Instagram account private if fans didn’t start being nicer to his then-girlfriend, Sofia Richie, Selena Gomez fired back, telling him that his fans have been there for him for years. She also told him to keep his romance to himself. In response, Bieber dissed her for using him for publicity.

As Selena Gomez tends to her emotional struggles after telling People Magazine in August that she was experiencing issues with anxiety, depression and panic attacks, she has been tied to the recent splits between Justin Bieber and his girlfriend Sofia Richie, and Brad Pitt and his wife Angelina Jolie.

On October 11, HNGN suggested Selena Gomez had been blamed for the demise of Bieber’s relationship with Richie, which ended weeks after their Instagram fight. The outlet also noted that Selena Gomez was “traumatized” by the fact that she’s being held accountable for the former couple’s split.

In another report, via BitBag, it was alleged that Brad Pitt had been caught with several women’s photos on his phone, including images of Selena Gomez.

“One Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie divorce update is that the whole thing was started off by Jolie getting furious as Brad kept photos of another woman in his phone. This other woman is no other than Selena Gomez,” the outlet claimed. “Rumors have been piling up that Gomez has been the cause for the split. Many fans think that there is something between Brad Pitt and the young singer.”
