Tragic Moment: A 6-Year-Old Boy Comforts His Sister After Their Parents Are Murdered

Guatemala

The above photo documents the exact heart breaking moment a six-year-old boy tells his four-year-old sister that their parents and other family members had been killed.

Carlos Daniel Gonzalez then drapes his arm across his sister Izabel in an attempt to console her. Their mother and father were shot dead in the town of Las Escobas in Guatemala by merciless killers, and the duo only survived by hiding from the assassins.

Seven members of the Gonzalez family were murdered, and this included an eight-month-old baby and an eight-year-old boy, each of whom were apparently murdered over a dispute between land rights.

Carlos and Isabel then told local authorities about the ordeal at the crime scene and explained how the atrocity had taken place. Guatemala is one of the most dangerous countires in the world despite its small size and diminutive population of around 14 million.

According to figures, more than 96 percent of all crimes go unpunished and corruption is rife across all forms of government and in the police department.

Violent gangs parade the country and commit despicable acts of violents on the poorest regions, which have seen around 20,000 deaths over the last three years.

Drug traffickers also easily take control of surrounding areas due to the lack of jobs and income for most people. This case will more than likely remain unpunished, but the striking image of these two siblings on their own and looking to comfort one another will surely trigger a response from the watching world. The unknown gunmen still remain at large.

What is so appalling is that this is just the poster for the suffering and violence in this country. </3

The Inquisitr: Before you paint a picture for the whole world to see, check and double check your stories. The news in that country are telling a completely different story from what you are saying here.

  9. Those poor children, having been born in such a dangerous part of the world. I can't imagine having to go through something so terrifying like that… I only hope they manage to get out of that area and into somewhere suitable to grow up in. Make me grateful to be an American, that's for sure. We have crime and murders here, but not to such a great degree. Man oh man. Those children… :'(

It just shows how much children know

  27. If it was a dispute over land rights then the authorities KNOW who did it. Which also means that the lives of those two children are still at risk, because the crimminals now know they survived and are entitled to the land. But they are shown walking away with no adults to protect them.

  28. Just how can my daughter and I adopted these two precious children? We don't need any assistance because we are wealthy ladies. We are willing to give them everything they need in life, lots of love, and definitely protections.
