The search for Boston graduate student Jonathan Dailey, 23, came to a sad end on Tuesday when his body was found in the Charles River. Dailey’s body had been tied with chains to a cement block, which led to his likely death by drowning.

Dailey’s body is the second to be found in the river in as many days. The day before the body of a 62-year-old man was found near the Boston University boathouse.

According to the Boston Globe, the Boston University student’s body was discovered by the Boston University rowing coach.

The Architectural College graduate student disappeared from campus approximately one week earlier.

A police officer for the Suffolk County District Attorney said of the discovery:

“It is far too early to make a determination as to manner of death, and reports indicating that the individual was the victim of a homicide are premature.”

The case is currently open, and detectives are investigating the possibility that the Boston graduate student committed suicide.

Before his death, Jonathan Dailey was taking a one semester leave of absence from his coursework.

A friend close to the victim says he was “charismatic, a great friend” who loved to spend his time in the outdoors.

ABC News reveals that the body was found just two miles away from where the graduate student was reported to be missing.

Family members note that Dailey was no stranger to taking adventurous trips, although he always told friends and family members where he would be heading ahead of those trips.
