Elderly Couple Caught With Huge Marijuana Plant They Unknowingly Bought At A Flea Market

An elderly couple was quite shocked when the police seized their prized backyard shrub, the greenery was actually a pot plant the couple had innocently purchased at a flea market. Bedfordshire police officers discovered the monstrous cannabis plant flourishing in the backyard of the British senior citizens, who reportedly had no idea they were watering an illegal plant.

The law enforcement officers called the illegal greenery the largest marijuana plant they had ever seen. Apparently the British senior citizens could teach cannabis cultivators a thing or two about proper plant tending techniques. A Bedfordshire police spokesperson noted the well-cared for flea market pot plant was taken into department custody and disposed of according to standard guidelines, the New York Daily News reports.

The couple allegedly asked the police department to remove the Twitter post detailing the incredible find and the photo showcasing the abundantly healthy cannabis plant in their visible backyard, but the tweet was still visible on Tuesday, the Daily Mail reports. The senior citizens who unknowingly purchased the plant at a flea market, or as they are called in England, a car boot sale, are not facing any criminal charges.

The How To Grow Marijuana website notes that while many marijuana farms hidden in the roofs of home can successfully grow cannabis plants, the species does prefer natural sunlight in gardens. Until cannabis is decriminalized in either the United States or England, optimal garden light is not a real possibility.

The senior citizen cannabis bush story has garnered so much international attention, it would be very difficult for marijuana growers to give grandma a similar plant for Christmas, and expect the same wide-eyed look of disbelief to get them out of a stiff fine.
