Finger Bitten Off In Healthcare Vigil Altercation

Thousand Oaks, CA (AHN) – A 65-year-old man’s pinky was bitten off by another man during an altercation at vigils of pro- and anti-healthcare reforms in Ventura County, California Wednesday night.

Witnesses told police that the two men were from opposing groups of demonstrators. The older man hit the other man, who retaliated by biting off his pinky.

The injured man, with his bitten off finger, walked to the Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center for treatment. His attacker fled the scene and remains at large.

The pro-healthcare reform candlelight vigil participated in by 150 people was organized by MoveOn.org, a non-profit advocacy group, to bring attention to those without healthcare,.
