Roku and 3M have teamed up to create a $299 projector that is capable of streaming video sizes up to 120-inches for the low-low price of just $299.

Called the “first-of-its-kind,” the projector uses 3M’s know-how in the portable projection business alongside Roku’s excellent understanding of the video streaming sector.

The Roku 3M Streaming Projector comes equipped with a rechargeable battery and can display a 120-inch or smaller screen for up to two hours and 45 minutes on a single charge with continuous play.

Thanks to Roku connectivity, the projector has access to more than 600 channels that include top providers such as Hulu Plus, Amazon Instant Video, Netflix, and Crackle among other offerings.

Roku also offers smartphone and tablet apps that allow the projector to operate on Apple iOS and Google Android mobile systems.

Also included with the 3M projector is a set of standard stereo speakers. Throw in a remote control for easy controls and the $299 price tag isn’t a bad deal. The only drawback to the system appears to be its 800 x 480 pixels of resolution, which eliminates high definition playback.

The Roku 3M Streaming Projector will go on sale October 22.

Here’s to hoping the company can eventually combine Roku HD playback with a similar $299 price point. I would be willing to immediately purchase a moderately priced projector with full Roku support.
