Could Melania Trump actually support Hillary Clinton?

That’s what one report swirling around social media indicated, but Snopes has reported the rumor to be false.

According to the myth-busting website, Free Wood Post first reported that Melania Trump would no longer support her husband after Donald Trump’s lewd conversation from 2005 leaked.

“It looks as though Donald Trump’s wife Melania has finally had enough of his shenanigans. No, she’s not divorcing him, but she’s also not backing him for president anymore after what was just revealed.”

The report from Free Wood Post was shared on Oct. 7, shortly after Donald’s conversation with Billy Bush became public. According to the report, Melania Trump contacted the news outlet to let the world know that she couldn’t possibly support her husband’s run for the presidency after the way he talked about women back in 2005.

“I’ve come to you because of your accuracy in reporting. You’ll tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth. It’s as simple as this. After listening to my husband making those comments about sexually assaulting other women without their permission, I simply cannot stand by and support him for president any longer. I may still have to put up with him, but America shouldn’t have to. That is why I’m announcing my endorsement of Hillary Clinton. Yes, it’s true. I’m with her.”

But here’s the catch: According to Snopes, Free Wood Post is a satirical website with the tagline “news that’s almost reliable.” In fact, the website has a disclaimer posted to indicate that the stories found on the site are not actual fact.

“Free Wood Post is a news and political satire web publication, which may or may not use real names, often in semi-real or mostly fictitious ways. All news articles contained within FreeWoodPost.com are fiction, and presumably fake news.”

So that rumor you may have seen about Melania Trump supporting Hillary Clinton? Yeah, that one was completely false.

With that being said, Melania did speak out today against the comments made by her husband back in 2005. According to a statement released by Mrs. Trump, Donald’s words are “unacceptable.” That doesn’t mean that she’s supporting anyone other than her husband, though.

“The words my husband used are unacceptable and offensive to me. This does not represent the man that I know. He has the heart and mind of a leader. I hope people will accept his apology, as I have, and focus on the important issues facing out nation and the world.”

In the day since the 2005 conversation was leaked, a plethora of Republican leaders have spoken out against Donald Trump and what many see as his misogynistic attitude. Even Trump’s running mate, vice-presidential candidate Mike Pence, has come out against the comments Trump made on a hot mic during an Access Hollywood interview in 2005.

Other Republican Party leaders who’ve spoken out against Trump’s comments include Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, former presidential candidate John McCain, and former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Despite the growing opposition even within his own party, Donald Trump said on Saturday that there is “zero chance” he will withdraw from the election, according to the Wall Street Journal.

“I never, ever give up. The support I’m getting is unbelievable, because Hillary Clinton is a horribly flawed candidate.”

The lewd comments from Trump led the former Apprentice boss to issue his first apology of his campaign for the presidency. On Saturday, Trump released a video, during which he acknowledged that the comments he made while speaking with Billy Bush were inappropriate.

“I’ve said and done things I regret, and the words released today on this more than a decade old video are one of them,” Trump said in the video statement. “Anyone who knows me knows these words don’t reflect who I am. I said it, I was wrong and I apologize.”
