‘Vikings’ Season 5 Cast, Season 4 Part 2 Release Date, Big Changes Coming

Vikings Season 4, Part 2 is coming back for a midseason return on Wednesday. The release date for Vikings is Wednesday, November 30, at 9 p.m on the History channel.

The History channel series Vikings has been renewed for Season 5 and there will be some interesting new cast members that we will discuss below.

Vikings Season 4, Part 2 is returning after a big time leap we saw in the first part. Ragnar Lothbrok is a different man and his kids have grown to young men in the time that he was gone.

Luckily we have some juicy spoilers about what to expect in Vikings Season 4, Part 2 coming next month.

Ragnar’s return to Kattegat has stirred things up. The old king has unfinished business with King Ecbert of Wessex. The ambitious king betrayed the Viking settlers that Ragnar left behind as he pursued his ambitions to conquer France.

Rollo successfully defended Paris and defeated his brother. There will likely not be another skirmish between the two.

The trailer for Vikings Season 4, Part 2 shows Rollo working closely with his nephew, Bjorn Ironside, who will have a good relationship with his younger brothers.

Some fans suspect that Rollo will collaborate with Bjorn to conquer Wessex and split the spoils.

It is unclear how effective an older and less influential Ragnar will be in Vikings Season 4, Part 2.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Vikings series creator Michael Hirst spoke about Ragnar’s role in Part 2.

“What is reckless to a Viking? You could say that all Vikings had death wishes because they wanted to die well and go to Valhalla. That was one of their big strengths as warriors because it is counterintuitive. They were very happy to die, as long as they died well in battle. So Ragnar is very motivated by what often motivated Vikings; to avenge something. To justify his life by doing something significant that the gods would applaud. The one thing you can say about Ragnar is that he’s not afraid of any death.”

Ragnar is going to form a bond with his son, Ivar the Boneless, and mentor him. In Vikings Season 4, Part 2, Ragnar will help his son overcome his disability and become the legendary Viking he was destined to be.

Creator Michael Hirst spoke about Ivar the Boneless, who is going to have a major role when Vikings returns.

“Ivar the Boneless may be the most famous Viking of all, partly because he’s got such a cool name. But in terms of this show, I knew he was going to be a major character and we got so lucky that we cast a young actor who is absolutely brilliant. He is compulsively watchable just in the same way Travis is. His role is fantastic, he’ll challenge the audience because Ivar is well known as someone who was very extreme and very cool and yet he was a cripple. So there’s always going to be hopefully a lot of sympathy for him, but at the same time he pushes boundaries. He’s very challenging and he’s really going to emerge as one of the big stars of this show.”

Vikings Season 5 has cast Jonathan Rhys Meyers who will be introduced in Season 4 and will be cast in a main role. Adam Copeland, who is also known as WWE star and former champion Edge, and Kris Holden-Ried have also been cast in Vikings Season 5.

Many fans also suspect that Ragnar will die at the end of the season. It is unclear at this point whether Ragnar’s death will occur in this season or how it will happen.
