Ben Higgins And Lauren Bushnell Split? Former ‘Bachelor’ Stars Struggling And Going To Therapy

Things haven’t been smooth sailing for Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell.

After proposing on the season finale of The Bachelor, the couple struggled to keep their relationship afloat. Are they on the verge of a breakup?

OK Magazine is reporting that their problems started after Bushnell learned about Higgins’ true feelings for his Bachelor runner-up JoJo Fletcher.

“Moving on from the JoJo situation was pretty difficult,” Bushnell explained. “There was part of me that felt betrayed and heartbroken.”

Higgins stirred up a lot of drama in Bachelor Nation when he told Fletcher that he loved her on the eve of the season finale.

“I thought I would get out of The Bachelor unscathed, but instead I had hurt the person I loved the most. I felt helpless,” Higgins admitted.

Despite Higgins’ feelings for Fletcher, Bushnell was determined to make things work.

Unfortunately, working through their problems has been a little harder than either of them expected.

“We have our struggles,” Higgins shared. “But everything we argue about makes us stronger. And we’ll never give up.”

The Bachelor stars are currently gearing up for their own reality series, Ben & Lauren: Happily Ever After, which is set to premiere on Freeform this month.

Upon their return to reality TV, Us Magazine reports that the couple is enrolled in therapy sessions to keep their relationship strong.

“You’re committing your life to somebody else, right?” Higgins stated. “So one thing we’re doing that’s really cool — today is actually our first day — through our church, we’re doing couples counseling, way before even premarital counseling. So we’re going to go today for our first session as a couple.”

Higgins continued, “We need a mediator between us just to help us communicate anything that we need to work out individually and together, and then let’s celebrate. Lauren makes my life better, so life’s good!”

Bushnell also dished on her plans to marry Ben Higgins and admitted that they still have some things to work out before walking down the aisle.

“I’m going to get married one time, and I want to make sure that I’m taking that very seriously, and just really crossing my T’s and dotting my I’s,” she said. “And making sure that Ben knows everything there is to know about me, and I know everything there is to know about him.”

Higgins and Bushnell moved to Denver following the end of The Bachelor.

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the couple revealed how moving in together brought its own share of issues.

For starters, Higgins admitted that he didn’t like how Bushnell wanted to change things about his house in Denver.

Despite his initial reluctance, Higgins eventually opened up and allowed Bushnell to make herself at home.

“It’s a 100-year-old house, so it has all the character that I love about homes,” Bushnell stated. “But it definitely wasn’t my style. It was his bachelor pad! When I walked in the door, I felt like I was at Ben’s house. … I think living together presents a whole new set of challenges and things to work through.”

While it’s clear that Higgins and Bushnell have had their differences, it sounds like they are willing to work things out and are committed to each other for the long haul.

“We got really lucky and I think at some point we looked at each other and said, ‘I actually love you. I’m glad that we’re doing this together and I’m glad that you’re alongside me in this,” Higgins explained. “It now works outside of the show. If the show ends tomorrow, we’re happy as can be with me off selling software and Lauren doing the blog.”
