Hilary Duff On Playing A Millennial In ‘Younger,’ Experimenting With Tinder, And The Secret To The Perfect Barbecue


Hilary Duff, best known for portraying the lead character in Disney’s Lizzie McGuire, is arguably one of the busiest celebrities in show business today. The actress is filming for the upcoming Season 3 of Younger, the TV Land comedy drama that is based on a novel by Pamela Redmond Satran.

Younger features Hilary Duff in the role of Kelsey Peters, a 20-something working woman who has a penchant for friends and tequila shots. Kelsey Peters has been heralded as one of the most honest representations of today’s millennial generation as she is ambitious, hard-working and helpful towards other women.

Hilary Duff’s work as Kelsey Peters was much appreciated and she was nominated for a People’s Choice Award in the Favorite Cable TV Actress. According to Extra TV, Hilary Duff recently signed up with Scooter Braun’s talent management company that will be representing and promoting the actress in various areas of show business.

Last year, the Lizzie McGuire actress released Breathe In. Breathe Out, her fifth studio album that reached the No. 5 position on the Billboard 200 charts. Hilary Duff made her debut as a singer in 2002 when she released Santa Claus Lane, a holiday album that celebrated Christmas. Later, the former child star went on to release three music albums, namely Metamorphosis, Hilary Duff, and Dignity, all of which earned several positive reviews.

Apart from pursuing her career in the entertainment industry, Hilary Duff has been seen experimenting with social media apps like Tinder. Earlier, it was speculated that Hilary Duff was using the dating app Tinder after she ended her marriage with Mike Comrie, the Canadian Ice Hockey player. However, the Agent Cody Banks actress soon announced that she was no longer using Tinder as she only wanted to test the much-hyped app to satisfy her curiosity.

Earlier in 2010, Hilary Duff had collaborated with Elise Allen to co-author Elixir, a young adult novel that was also made available as an audiobook. Currently, Hilary Duff has admitted to being obsessed with playing Words With Friends, an engaging word game based on Scrabble that offers educational value by helping players to improve their vocabulary. According to Just Jared, Hilary expressed her liking for the game by remarking that she would like to play the game with her son Luca.

“I know Luca’s too young to play Words With Friends EDU, but I’m looking forward to when he’s old enough to play with me. It’s fun for me to play with my friends in L.A. It helps keep us connected.”

Despite being busy with her professional commitments and her virtual pastimes, Hilary Duff also pursues her passion of playing a perfect host by participating in culinary events. Recently, the actress played a perfect host by participating in Host One to Remember, an event which was organized by Stella Artois, the Belgian beer maker, in New York City. While participating at the event, Hilary Duff teamed with caterers Bompas & Parr and party organizer Juliette Campbell to make the event successful.

Hilary has admitted that she loves to entertain guests by organizing memorable house parties. According to The Daily Meal, Hilary Duff disclosed her strategy for hosting a perfect barbecue party.

“I am super into entertaining in the summer when you can barbecue and sit outside comfortably. My hosting style is not super extravagant. I prefer comfortable and casual.”

Apart from pleasing her guests with her hospitality, Hilary is also known to win over her guests’ hearts by cooking dishes that can truly prove to be crowd-pleasers. While sharing her experiences, Hilary Duff revealed that her popular recipes like sticky honey garlic chicken, cauliflower rice with crumbled bacon, and watermelon feta mint salad have been particularly appreciated. Even though Hilary is proud about her hosting abilities, the actress is also humble enough to recall an occasion when she had almost served undercooked turkeys during a Thanksgiving party.
