Michelle And Jim Bob Duggar Listen To Trump Supporter Ben Carson Say That Gay Marriage Will Lead To ‘Mass Killings’

Jim Bob Duggar and his wife, Michelle, are rubbing elbows with politicians once again. The Counting On stars laid low for over a year after their family’s sexual molestation scandal came to light, but now they’re getting more comfortable being in the public eye. This could be because TLC has given them a larger role on the current season of their family’s reality show.

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar haven’t been speaking at political events like they used to, but they did recently reveal that they attended the National Symposium on Religious Liberty at the College of the Ozarks in Branson, Missouri.

“We are at the Religous Liberty rally in Branson that can be heard live right now on American Family Radio. Ben Carson is getting ready to speak,” Jim Bob and Michelle wrote on the Duggar Family Official Facebook page.

According to the Springfield News-Leader, Dr. Ben Carson, a former GOP presidential candidate, used his time onstage to warn conservative Christians like the Duggars to cling tightly to their religious beliefs. He claimed that “there will be mass killings once again,” and he said that the legalization of gay marriage will be the cause of this bloodshed.

“Why must they change it?” Carson said of the SCOTUS decision legalizing same-sex marriage nationwide. “I believe the reason is, if you can change the word of God in one area, then you can change it in every area. It’s the camel’s nose under the tent, and it will just be an avalanche of one thing after the other.”

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s appearance at the event comes just days after they used their family’s blog to take a dig at LGBT kids. As the Inquisitr previously reported, it’s no secret that the Duggars are transphobic, and it seems as though Carson shares their views about transgender community. During his speech, the retired neurosurgeon said that “the transgender stuff” is “absurd.”

Ben Carson also spoke out against abortion, and he explained that his anti-choice stance is one of the reasons he’s supporting GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump. As Vox reports, Trump has said that women should be punished for getting abortions, and he has promised to select Supreme Court justices who will overturn Roe v. Wade.

Jim Bob Duggar and his wife have not revealed whether they will be voting for Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election, but politics have always been important to the reality show stars. As Politico reports, Jim Bob ran for the U.S. senate in 2002. He believed that God called him to spend his family’s limited resources running for the U.S. senate, but he ultimately lost the race.

According to Defamer, Jim Bob Duggar tried to win voters over by lobbying for rape and incest to be punishable by death. This political position would come back to haunt him years later when In Touch Weekly discovered that his oldest son, Josh Duggar, had sexually molested four of his younger sisters.

The Duggars kept the incestuous sexual molestation a secret for years, and their wholesome image helped them score a series of TV specials and a reality show. The family then used their fame to help out politicians who share their conservative Christian views. As the Washington Post reports, they’ve campaigned for past presidential hopefuls including Rick Santorum and Mike Huckabee.

Josh Duggar eventually used his family’s clout to score a position as the executive director of FRC Action, the political arm of the Family Resource Council. Josh was forced to resign from his job with the conservative Christian group in the wake of his sexual molestation scandal, and he left Washington, D.C. for his family’s home in Arkansas. According to People, he now makes a living selling used cars.

Josh Duggar’s former boss, Family Research Council President Tony Perkins, later slammed the former 19 Kids and Counting star when he confessed to cheating on his wife, Anna Duggar.

“Those of us who advocate for family values in the public square are held to a higher standard, and Josh’s failures serve as a painful reminder of the destructive effects of not living with integrity,” Perkins said.

Like Ben Carson, Tony Perkins is also a Donald Trump supporter, and it turns out that he doesn’t hold the GOP presidential nominee to the same standard that he held Josh Duggar to. As the New York Times reports, Donald Trump can be heard bragging about trying to have sex with a married woman in a recently-surfaced 2005 recording. The former host of The Apprentice also boasted that he could kiss women and “grab them by the pu**y” whenever he wanted to simply because he was famous.

As Buzzfeed reports, Tony Perkins did not withdraw his support from Donald Trump in response to the recording.

“My personal support for Donald Trump has never been based upon shared values, it is based upon shared concerns about issues such as: justices on the Supreme Court that ignore the constitution, America’s continued vulnerability to Islamic terrorists and the systematic attack on religious liberty that we’ve seen in the last 7 1/2 years,” Perkins said.

Perkins didn’t attend the National Symposium on Religious Liberty with the Duggars, but Ozarks First reports that the Executive Vice President of the FRC was there.

Other evangelical Republican leaders have also forgiven twice-divorced Donald Trump for bragging about groping women, so who knows? Maybe Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar will get back into presidential politics by campaigning for their fellow reality show star.
