‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ On Hold: Will E! Cancel The Show?

The production of Keeping Up With the Kardashians has been on hold amid Kim Kardashian being robbed and held at gunpoint earlier this week. The E! Network has issued a statement to the media on Thursday, Oct. 6.

“Kim’s well-being is our core focus right now. No decision has been made as to when production will resume,” the Comcast-owned operation said in the statement, as reported by Deadline.

However, the halt in production is not expected to affect the show’s premiere for its next season on Sunday, Oct. 23. Kardashian was held at gunpoint in the early morning hours of Oct. 3 when five thieves, known as the Pink Panthers, broke into her Paris hotel room and stole $11 million worth of jewelry. While Kardashian was not harmed, her rep said she was “badly shaken” by the incident, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Since the incident, which is currently being investigated, Kardashian has been maintaining a low-profile. She has rescheduled a Dubai makeup class, and her husband, Kanye West, has rescheduled several dates on his Saint Pablo Tour to be with his wife. Kardashian has not been on any of her social media accounts since the robbery.

Keeping Up With the Kardashians, however, is currently in its 12th season, with the show scheduled to return on Oct. 23. Season 13 was picked up in 2015 as part of a three-season pact for the series, which is expected to air through 2018. The ratings for the series are at its lowest point, though the mom-of-two has a $100 million contract with the network until 2019. E! has also started airing the spinoff series Rob & Chyna, which will wrap up its first season on Oct. 23.

Rumors have been circulating that Keeping Up With the Kardashians is going to be cancelled after 12 seasons, as reported by iTech Post. Now, it’s leaving its fans in limbo regarding Kardashian’s robbery and the renewal of the show. Rumors about the show’s cancellation swirled back in early September, shortly after reports about Kardashian wanting more money from the show came out. She thinks she’s not getting enough money and that her husband, Kanye West, has asked her to quit the reality show.

“Kim has everyone in her family really worried because she is doing her best to push them all away! Kim has already given up so much for Kanye that she is at her breaking point,” a source told Radar Online, as reported by In Touch Weekly. “Kanye told Kim that he wants her to leave the show and that she should get out before the ratings crash even more. Kim knows that she carries the show and that is just adding a lot of stress to her life. At this point, she just wants to be done with it.”

Adding to the rumors is a recent British Glamour interview with Kylie Jenner expressing that she would love to do something more interesting that wouldn’t make her as public. Jenner, 19, even said that the show would have to end soon.

“In time, I think I’ll just slowly start moving behind the scenes. The show has to end eventually, and I’m not going to leave until we’re done with it, but by 20 I want to have the whole of my cosmetics line out because that’s my primary focus. I definitely won’t want to be doing anything else that would make me more public.”

For now, it looks like Keeping Up With the Kardashians is here to stay, for now. The famous family is reportedly locked into this contract and this show is not going anywhere, anytime soon.
