Joshua Jackson Embraces Role As Climate Change Activist Following Diane Kruger Breakup

Joshua Jackson is known to make decisions only after careful deliberation. Having enjoyed a decade-long romantic relationship with Diane Kruger, Joshua Jackson reportedly split with the German actress after the Cruel Intentions actor realized that he is still not prepared to commit himself as her life partner.

The pair embarked upon their romantic relationship after the German actress divorced Guillaume Canet, the French film director. However, it appears that their breakup hasn’t adversely affected their friendship, as the former lovers were recently spotted exchanging a warm hug after Joshua Jackson dropped his ex-lover at the Los Angeles Airport.

A decade-long deliberation was sufficient enough for Joshua Jackson to deduce that it would be in the couple’s best interest to remain friends rather than lovers. Even though the pair enjoyed a romantic relationship together and seemed to have managed to stay friends after their breakup, it appears that the relationship didn’t start out so smoothly.

In fact, Diane earlier revealed on Conan O’Brien’s talk show that she wasn’t very impressed with Joshua Jackson during their first meeting, claiming that she found him to be a blabbermouth who spoke excessively about himself. Later, Joshua Jackson expressed his lack of confidence in their relationship when he suggested that merely taking religious vows would not guarantee a long-lasting relationship.

According to News Australia, the Mighty Ducks actor spoke about his views on marriage, claiming that his parent’s divorce played a major role in shaping his attitudes and beliefs about marriage.

“We’re both children of divorce, so it’s hard for me to take marriage at face value as the thing that shows you’ve grown up and are committed to another person. But it may change at some point.”

Within a few months after his breakup with Diane, Joshua Jackson was spotted surfing alone on the beaches of the Hamptons in New York. A keen surfing enthusiast who has been spotted pursuing his hobby solo on a number of occasions, Joshua Jackson was seen surfing on the waves of Montauk during a high tide last year.

At the time, the media was more interested in commenting on Joshua’s trim physique and Diane’s absence rather than highlighting his surfing skills. As an ocean lover, Joshua Jackson has volunteered to become a climate change activist and has keenly joined hands with National Geographic to feature in Years of Living Dangerously, a television series that will highlight the ill-effects of global warming. According to the Daily Mail, Joshua Jackson will be seen traveling to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia to investigate the adverse impact of climate change on coral reefs.

Besides studying ocean acidification in the episode titled as “Warming and Winning,” Joshua Jackson will travel to the Philippines to focus on the problems faced by local Filipinos who depend on the ocean reefs for food and shelter.

In other positive news for the former Dawson’s Creek star, the actor is looking forward to the premiere of the upcoming third season of The Affair, Showtime’s television series that features Joshua Jackson in one of the leading roles. In The Affair, Joshua plays the role of Cole Lockhart, who is striving to move close to Alison, his estranged wife, to share the pain that the two have endured in their lives.

Joshua Jackson had worked on a number of television projects before, but it was The Affair that has helped him to stretch his acting skills. Earlier, the actor gained immense popularity by featuring as one of the lead characters in Dawson’s Creek, a teen drama that also featured a young Katie Holmes.

Following his break-up with Diane Kruger, Joshua Jackson is rumored to be dating Ruth Wilson, his co-star who plays the lead role of Alison Lockhart in The Affair, although Wilson herself has vehemently denied the claims. According to People magazine, Ruth Wilson clarified the rumors that started to go around when the two co-stars were spotted enjoying a meal at New York’s Gemma restaurant.

“If you want an answer about whether we’re dating or not, ‘no’ is the absolute truth.”
