‘Angry Birds Star Wars’ Game To Be Released In November [Video]

How many ways can Angry Birds be re-invented? Rovio, the company behind the hit mobile game, has sent its characters into space, it has created a game where the piggies get revenge, and now the Angry Birds are entering the Star Wars world.

According to the Guardian, the new game will dress up the Angry Birds as Star Wars characters like Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Obi Wan Kenobi, and Princess Leia, and the pigs will be dressed as storm troopers and Darth Vader. The game will be based off of the Angry Birds Space game and will include several settings from the Star Wars movies like Tatooine and Hoth.

But according to Paul Southern, Lucasfilm’s president of licensing and consumer products marketing, the new game isn’t simply mimicking the iconic film series. According to Southern, Angry Birds Star Wars creates new characters and new worlds.

Southern said:

“They are not Angry Birds dressed up as Star Wars characters … They are characters in their own right.”

And what’s the point of a new Angry Birds game without some Angry Birds merchandise? According to USA Today, the new game will also usher in a huge new line of Angry Birds / Star Wars products.

Here’s a trailer for the new game.

Rovio announced today that its series has been downloaded nearly 650 million times. The new Angry Birds Space game hit 100 million downloads earlier this year. Bad Piggies, which was released last month, was the number one game on iTunes just a few hours after its release.
