Kerry Washington Anxious About Second Pregnancy

Kerry Washington has revealed that she is anxious about having her second child, according to ET Online. The 39-year-old actress recently flaunted her bump at the Emmy Awards 2016, but it turns out she is actually anxious about her second pregnancy.

Kerry Washington opted for a stunning dress at this year’s Emmys and put her baby bump on display by wearing a black strapless dress by Brandon Maxwell. The Scandal actress complemented her look with natural curls and didn’t have much makeup.

Speaking to ET‘s Kevin Frazier on the red carpet, Kerry Washington revealed that the dress was made especially for her, so she didn’t have to buy a maternity dress off the rack for this very special occasion.

“Brandon Maxwell made this dress for me. I’m just a fan of his. I love what he’s done with [Lady] Gaga through the years and with the first lady recently, so I’m really honored he made this dress.”

Kerry Washington also revealed that she is “a little bit” anxious about her second pregnancy with husband Nnamdi Asomugha. The Scandal star and Asomugha already have a two-year-old daughter together.

But Kerry Washington was quick to add that, despite her anxiety, having a baby is “fantastic” and that she is “really happy.” When asked about the baby’s sex, the actress admitted that they don’t know it yet.

“I’m open – honestly, healthy, happy baby – that’s what we want.”

It was confirmed in May this year that Kerry Washington was pregnant with their second child. And in an interview in June, the actress joked that she looks “a little curvier than usual,” but added that she felt “blessed.”

Kerry Washington, who was an only child in her family, said she was excited about finding out how it is to have a family with two kids, so she and her husband certainly cannot wait for the arrival of their second child.

Although Kerry Washington looked the epitome of style and glamor on the red carpet of Emmy Awards 2016, it wasn’t so easy for the actress to pull off that look, according to ET Online.

Kerry Washington’s longtime hairstylist, Takisha Sturdivant-Drew, revealed in her interview with People magazine that this time she had to make “a very special” hairdo for the mom-to-be, adding that because she is pregnant, her style has to “blow everyone away.”

In her interview with Extra, Kerry Washington admitted that red carpet preparations are somewhat different for expecting moms, as they should offer a substantial confidence boost.

“When you’re a pregnant lady on the red carpet, you need to feel like a superhero.”

During that interview, Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon made a cameo appearance and even had a brief chat with Kerry Washington’s unborn child.

“Hi, baby! Hi, baby! It’s Jimmy! I can’t wait to meet you — it’s gonna be so fun. I’m going to see you backstage someday!”

Although Kerry Washington says she doesn’t know her exact due date, she admits she is feeling “close” to the finish line. Meanwhile, her Scandal character Olivia Pope is not pregnant, so the show’s creators once again have to get creative to cover her growing baby bump.

“We’re hiding behind bags and boxes and things — big coats, big Prada bags.”

At this year’s Emmy Awards, Kerry Washington lost to Sarah Paulson (The People vs. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story) in the nomination for the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie, in which she was nominated for her role in Confirmation.

Scandal starring Kerry Washington was renewed for a sixth season in March this year.
