Wedding Brawl At Philadelphia Sheraton Hotel [Video]

Philadelphia, PA – A wild melee broke out early Sunday morning between two wedding parties in the lobby of the Sheraton Hotel, and the police response was captured on cell phone video (see below). About 100 people were involved in the fight which Philadelphia police say started in the hotel bar and was fueled by alcohol. A 57-year-old guest, reportedly an uncle of one of the brides, tragically died of a heart attack following the incident, according to London’s Daily Mail.

The Philadelphia Inquirer has some additional information:

“Police had little information on the fight, which occurred during a wedding at the Society Hill Sheraton on Second and Walnut streets, but a video posted by a hotel guest to YouTube this morning shows a chaotic scene with guests fighting police and a woman letting out blood-curdling screams.”

“At least seven police officers can be seen on the video, one of whom repeatedly uses his baton to strike a wedding guest.”

CBS Channel 3 in Philadelphia adds that “one group of guests fought with another group who had just returned to the hotel after an off-site reception.”

Three men have been jailed after the Sheraton wedding free-for-all, but more arrests could follow as the investigation continues. So far, it hasn’t been determined as to what actually caused the fight in the lobby between the wedding parties.

The Daily Mail reports that the “fracas was recorded on video by an irate guest, whose hotel stay was disturbed by the 2 a.m. commotion on Sunday.”
