‘Rift Storm Legion’ Expansion Arrives November 13, 2012

On November 13, 2012, Rift, the innovative new fantasy MMORPG from Trion Worlds, will debut the highly anticipated Storm Legion expansion. Rift has attracted over one million players since its launch, and Trion reported the game’s revenues reached 100 million dollars in January 2012.

Scott Hartsman, Rift’s executive producer and Trion’s chief creative officer, is highly optimistic about Storm Legion:

“Work on Storm Legion literally began before the original game launched last year, so the development team had the rare opportunity to evolve the expansion alongside the live game. The result is shaping up to be a carefully crafted and extremely polished experience that will completely enthrall players.”

Storm Legion will add 10 more levels to the game (raising the cap to 60), a single Chronicle, and a small army of new mounts, pets, titles, artifacts, and collectibles. It will also introduce two huge new zones that are larger than Rift’s entire original landmass, seven new dungeons, three more raids, and a vast array of intimidating monsters.

Here is Trion’s official announcement describing of all the exciting features in the Rift Storm Legion expansion:

“A VAST NEW WORLD”

“Adventure across two huge new continents that more than triple the size of the existing world.”

“Experience epic stories that reveal the true power in Telara … and the gateway to the planes.”

“Make your move to the island city of Tempest Bay, a new stronghold for both Guardians and Defiant.”

“10 MORE LEVELS, 4 MORE SOULS”

“A new Soul for each Calling expands the Ascended Class System – build the hero you want!”

“Rise to new heights of power through 10 challenging levels, increasing the level cap to 60.”

“Play your way! Choose how you level with questing and Instant Adventure everywhere, onslaughts, rifts, events, and more.”

“BRAVE THE STORM”

“Achieve greatness with 7 new dungeons, 3 raids, a Chronicle, and more!”

“Join the Hunt: New rift gameplay propels you into battling increasingly-challenging planar bosses.”

“Fight legions of fantastic creatures, including a Colossus that interacts with – and ravages – the world like you’ve never seen.”

“MAKE TELARA YOUR OWN”

“Dimensions: Customizable spaces allow players and guilds to own a sliver of Telara.”

“Take your professions to new heights with Grandmaster crafting.”

“Become the talk of the town and boost your stats with stylish new capes.”

“New puzzles, artifacts and collectibles, achievements, mounts, pets, titles, and much more.”

Storm Legion will be available in two editions: the Standard edition ($40) or the Infinity edition ($60). The Standard edition will offer gamers early access to the Exodus of the Storm Queen dungeon and an in-game cape for your character. The Infinity edition includes early access to the Exodus of the Storm Queen dungeon, the cape, the Brevanic Portal Generator (a personal transporter), the new Cyclone Mount, and a Mini Regulos pet.

Rift has a large community of dedicated players and an ambitious plan to dethrone World Of Warcraft as the king of the online gaming. During the last week of September 2012, Trion took a not so subtle stab at the WoW Mists Of Pandaria expansion by announcing that one dollar from every Storm Legion pre-order would be donated to a charity dedicated to saving the pandas.

Will you be there in November when Rift introduces the Storm Legion expansion? Do you think it is possible for any current MMO to surpass World of Warcraft as the most successful subscriber based game, or will WoW continue its eight year reign as the undefeated champion?
