gmail-fail

Gmail users were unable to access the Google e-mail service Tuesday afternoon. The company has since restored the service.

The outage started Monday 1 p.m. Pacific time and service was restored to some users by 11:16 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Google App Status Dashboard.

David Besbris, an Engineering Director for Google, stated on the company’s blog, “Gmail should be back up and running as usual. We’re still investigating the root cause of this outage, and we’ll share more information soon. Thanks for bearing with us.”

The service is accessible through Outlook or POP3 and IMAP for iPhone customers.

Tuesday’s disruption has been the second wide and long disruption to Gmail since May 14.
