WWE News: The Undertaker Will Wrestle at ‘Wrestlemania 33,’ Potential Opponent Revealed

The Undertaker match is arguably as important as the WWE Championship match at Wrestlemania every year. Over the years, The Streak continued and the question going into the match would be if they can break The Undertaker’s Wrestlemania Streak. After twenty-one years, Brock Lesnar broke The Streak, but the aura and honor of having The Undertaker as an opponent on the grandest stage of them all remained intact.

Now, the question is who will face The Undertaker at next year’s Wrestlemania. That question has been a bit different this year because the WWE Universe isn’t 100 percent sure if there will be a next year. At Wrestlemania 32, Undertaker defeated Shane McMahon inside the Hell in a Cell. Since then, the WWE fans have been speculating if that was the final time The Deadman will ever wrestle inside a WWE ring again.

Over the past six months, there hasn’t been a clear answer. The WWE Universe expects The Deadman to rise once more for his 25th match at Wrestlemania, which would be epic. Now, the WWE Universe and WWE officials need to know if The Undertaker is returning for one last match on the grandest stage of them all. If he is returning in Orlando next year, who will be his opponent for what could be his last match?

Last we heard, The Undertaker could be returning to WWE programming at the WWE Royal Rumble PPV, which will be held in San Antonio, Texas. In case you weren’t aware, Texas is Undertaker’s home state, so getting to San Antonio isn’t out of the question for The Deadman, especially if he has several months to get ready for his return to the squared circle. The expectation is he’d begin his Wrestlemania feud at that event.

Obviously, several WWE Superstars are throwing their name into the hat to face The Undertaker in Orlando next year. Finn Balor’s name has been brought up by many different people. The long-awaited matchup with Sting is still on the minds of the WWE Universe. However, it has to be confirmed that The Undertaker is wrestling at next year’s event before major WWE creative plans can be made for him.

According to a new report, the feeling within WWE is that Undertaker will be wrestling at Wrestlemania next year in Orlando for at least one more year, but he’s said to be in such great shape that he could have a few more years left in him if he were interested. The top rumored opponent for The Undertaker has been John Cena to this point, but WWE officials could be thinking of another matchup for The Deadman.

The same report is claiming that WWE is looking to book the current WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens vs. Undertaker at Wrestlemania 33. There are a lot of conflicting reports, but the idea is that Owens would lose the WWE Universal title beforehand and then be launched into a feud with The Undertaker.

Owens vs. Undertaker would be a strong matchup, but there are several question marks involving several top WWE Superstars, including Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns, and John Cena. It’s possible we could see Cena vs. Reigns, but the brand split will make that match and many others challenging to pull off in April.

For the time being, the WWE Universe has to wait to see who The Undertaker faces at Wrestlemania, but Kevin Owens looks to be in the conversation for the match with The Phenom on the grandest stage of them all. Many fans will be disappointed if WWE doesn’t book John Cena vs. The Undertaker, but the beauty of the latter’s bout every year is that it always delivers.
