Brad Pitt And Angelina Jolie Attempted To Avoid Divorce For Their Kids, Despite Not Wanting To Be Married?

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie reportedly tied the knot only because their children wanted them to do so.

According to a new report, Angelina Jolie wasn’t happy for the majority of her 12-year relationship with Pitt and never wanted to get married. However, after learning the commitment was important to their six children, she eventually gave in.

“Angie never wanted to get married,” a source told In Touch Weekly in their latest issue, according to a report by Hollywood Life on September 29. “She only did it because it was important to the kids.”

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie share six children. Their oldest, Maddox, now 15, was adopted years ago by Jolie as a single parent from Cambodia. Jolie then adopted two additional children, Zahara from Ethiopia, now 11, and Pax from Vietnam, now 12, and years later, Pitt filed documents to become the adoptive father of all three of the children.

The couple also shares three biological children. In 2006, about one year after Pitt’s former wife, Jennifer Aniston, filed for divorce amid rumors of his alleged affair with Jolie on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, they welcomed their first child, daughter Shiloh, now 10. Two years later, their twins, Vivienne and Know, now 8, were born.

Although Jolie reportedly wanted out of her relationship after she and Brad Pitt welcomed their six kids, she remained dedicated to their family and in an effort to make things better, she reportedly agreed to get married.

“She thought once they finally [got married], the arguing would stop,” the insider added. “Instead, it only escalated. Their romance and love for each other died soon after they said, ‘I do.'”

Earlier this year, a source spoke to In Touch Weekly, via Hollywood Life, claiming that after going through tough times in late 2015, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were planning to mend their marriage for the sake of their kids.

“The past few months have been tough on [Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie] because they’ve both been very wrapped up in their own projects,” the source explained to the magazine. “They went from doing By The Sea together and having all this time as a family to spending the majority of their time apart. That is hard on them. Whenever they have to spend too much time apart, it causes tension in the relationship.”

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have always been fairly busy with their acting careers, which have taken them around the world, and their other projects, including Jolie’s humanitarian efforts and Pitt’s real estate ventures. However, at the time of the report several months ago, it was important to Pitt and Jolie to remain united for their family.

“[Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie] both want to make sure the kids get enough time with at least one of them around so they argue about that,” the source added. “They both know they need to come back together and have more time as a family unit. They’re looking forward to moving to London together this Spring.”

During the spring, Brad Pitt and his wife, Angelina Jolie, relocated to London for several months, where he was filming Allied. Unfortunately, as they attempted to get their marriage back on track, they were plagued by rumors of on-set affairs between Pitt and Marion Cotillard, and Pitt and Lizzy Caplan, and earlier this month, Jolie filed divorce papers.
