‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 13 Spoilers: Is It The End For Meredith And Riggs Already? [Sneak Peek]

Season 13 of Grey’s Anatomy is underway and Meredith’s (Ellen Pompeo) romance with Riggs (Martin Henderson) is already on the verge of ending.

The premiere focused on Alex’s (Justin Chambers) ferocious beating of DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti), and now it looks like Meredith’s part in the matter might affect her decision to leave Riggs.

Are they on the brink of ending their growing romance?

According to Celeb Buzz, Pompeo recently revealed that Meredith can’t afford to betray Maggie’s (Kelly McCreary) trust again.

In the Season 13 premiere, Meredith betrayed Maggie’s trust when she didn’t tell her that Alex was the one who beat up her ex-boyfriend.

Now, Christian Times is reporting that Meredith will do her best to avoid another betrayal.

“She really can’t betray her sister again, because the whole premiere episode about Alex being the one who beats up DeLuca is a betrayal because Meredith did not confide to Maggie that she knew who did it,” Pompeo shared. “She can’t betray Maggie again, yet she’s finding herself in this triangle that Maggie for sure is going to see as a betrayal.”

To make matters worse, Maggie also has feelings for Riggs. In fact, she told Meredith about her crush on Riggs last season.

Once Maggie finds out that Meredith has been hooking up with her crush, things aren’t going to end well.

Of course, Meredith can soften the blow by coming clean herself before the news reaches Maggie.

Will Meredith break up with Riggs in order to save her relationship with Maggie?

According to Melty, Meredith already took steps to end things with Riggs, but that doesn’t mean their romance is over just yet.

Based on Pompeo’s comments, it sounds like the love triangle will continue for a bit longer this season on Grey’s Anatomy.

Whether or not Meredith’s relationship with Riggs will put a wedge between her and Maggie is yet to be seen.

Meanwhile, it isn’t clear what will happen to Alex now that he turned himself into the police.

In the trailer for the upcoming episode, Bailey is shown telling Alex that he faces some serious consequence for beating DeLuca.

“Do you realize what happens if you’re convicted of a felony?!” she asks him in the clip.

If Alex is convicted of a felony then his time at Grey Sloan Memorial is over.

To complicate things even further, Meredith is trying to patch things up with DeLuca. Unfortunately, DeLuca wants nothing to do with Meredith, especially after she tried to cover for Alex in the last episode.

“You think because you’re an attending you can threaten me?” DeLuca tells her.

At the same time, fans will start to see Alex’s darker side come out in the coming episodes.

“[He’s] definitely taking a pit stop from trying to be more altruistic,” Chambers explained.

Despite Alex’s actions and the consequences he faces, Chambers hopes that his character will eventually become a family man and deal with his issues.

“I’d like to see him settle and find a real foundation with family,” he stated. “I think Alex would be a good dad, but maybe he’s supposed to be everyone’s dad as a doctor. I know that I still care to play him, so I’m interested in seeing where it goes, but I think Alex is going to be OK.”

For now, there’s no telling what DeLuca will do after he fully recovers from his injuries. Hopefully, Alex won’t lose his medical license, but it’s clear that he has some issues to work through before he starts getting better.

Fans can watch the drama continue to unfold when new episodes of Grey’s Anatomy air Thursday nights on ABC. Check out a sneak peek from the next all-new episode below.
