Brad Pitt Opened Up To Marion Cotillard About His Marital Troubles With Angelina Jolie [Report]

Brad Pitt reportedly established a close friendship with Marion Cotillard during filming on their World War II drama Allied. In fact, according to a new report, the co-stars became so close with one another during production that Pitt allegedly opened up to Cotillard about his marital troubles.

Prior to filing for divorce last Monday, Angelina Jolie reportedly became enraged after learning that her now-estranged husband, Brad Pitt, had discussed their private struggles, with his co-star.

Brad Pitt “vented” to Marion Cotillard about their marital issues, a source revealed to Us Weekly on September 28, via Hollywood Life.

“The marriage never should have happened.”

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s relationship began on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith in 2004 and in 2005, they went public with their relationship during a visit to Kenya with Jolie’s adopted son Maddox, now 15. In the years that followed, Pitt adopted Maddox as his own, as well as two other children, son Pax, 12, and daughter Zahara, 11, with Jolie.

According to the Us Weekly report, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie chose to tie the knot in August of 2014 for the sake of their children. In addition to their adopted children, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have also welcomed three biological children, 10-year-old Shiloh and eight-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox.

Prior to their marriage, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie dated for nearly 10 years, but apparently, their relationship changed when they wed and after feeling that their relationship was becoming “too much,” Pitt reportedly let out his feelings to Cotillard and a “handful of crew members” on the set of Allied.

Following news of Brad Pitt’s conversations, it was reported that Angelina Jolie “resented” her husband’s behavior.

“She cannot deal with anyone talking about their business. That pissed her off the most,” the source explained. “He said he was just worn out and fed up with problems at home. He said they’ve [He and Angie] had rocky moments before, but this is the roughest patch they’d ever been through.”

On September 19, Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt and cited “irreconcilable differences.” The same day, the actress’s attorney said her decision to split from Pitt was for the “health of her family.”

For several months leading up to Jolie’s filing, Brad Pitt was romantically linked to Marion Cotillard. Although Jolie and their kids were in London during filming, rumors continuously circulated in regard to a possible affair. Now, after her filing, the rumors have been rebooted.

“Angelina totally believes that [Brad Pitt] had an affair with Marion when they were shooting the movie,” a source told Hollywood Life on September 26. “He had even commented to Angelina before they started shooting on how elegant and sexy Marion is.”

Adding to the speculation of an affair were Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s marital issues.

“During filming their relationship was especially strained,” the insider explained. “So the timing is particularly suspicious.

In response to the ongoing rumors, both Cotillard and her longtime partner, Guillaume Canet, have released statements to fans on Instagram. In Cotillard’s statement, she spoke of her love for Canet, the father of her five-year-old son Marcel and the baby she’s expecting and sent her well-wishes to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

“Many years ago, I met the man of my life, father of our son and of the baby we are expecting. He is my love, my best friend, the only one that I need,” she wrote. “I do very much wish that Angelina and Brad, both whom I deeply respect, will find peace in this very tumultuous moment.”
