‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Eric’s Return To Salem Explained

Days of Our Lives fans were thrilled when the news broke that actor Greg Vaughan would be returning to Salem as Eric Brady. While it seems that viewers have been facing many DOOL departures as of late, the news of Eric’s return has fans excited about the show again.

According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, Greg Vaughan is already back on set and will begin airing on January 17, 2017. Not many details have been revealed about Eric Brady’s return to Salem, but it is sure to bring up some high emotions and big drama.

When Days of Our Lives fans last saw Eric Brady he was on his way to prison where he was set to spend time for driving under the influence of alcohol and causing a car accident that took the life of his best friend, Dr. Daniel Jonas. Daniel was tragically killed and his heart was given to his close friend, Brady Black, who was also injured in the crash. The accident also caused injury to Jennifer Horton, who later became addicted to prescription pain killers as a result.

Greg Vaughan left Days of Our Lives earlier this year to pursue other acting opportunities. It wasn’t long before he landed a role on the OWN series Queen Sugar. On the show, Greg portrays the character Calvin, a married police officer who is having an affair with the character Nova Bordelon, played by former True Blood star Rutina Wesley.

Queen Sugar was renewed for Season 2, but it’s unclear whether or not Greg Vaughan will continue with the series since returning to Days of Our Lives. There is no word on how long Eric will stay in Salem this time around, but reports suggest that fans will see him in February and March as well.

“After coming toward the completion of Queen Sugar, I had the opportunity to speak with the executives and head writers at Days of our Lives. I’ve always been proud of my time and the work I contributed to Days, and I was excited at the opportunity to reunite with the cast and crew.”

Now that Eric will return to Salem, fans are wondering about the impact he’ll have on those he left behind. Eric will more than likely be a changed man after serving time in prison, but will others see him that way? Nicole Walker is obviously the person who will have the most emotional reaction to Eric’s prison release. Nicole, who was engaged to Daniel Jonas at the time of his death, has spent an entire year mourning the loss and learning how to live without the man she loved.

Nicole is currently entering a relationship with Deimos Kiriakis, but before being engaged to Daniel was in love with Eric. Seeing Eric again will probably stir a lot of feelings inside Nicole, and fans are looking forward to scenes between the two characters yet again.

Meanwhile, Eric’s parents, Roman Brady and Marlena Evans will likely also have a big reaction to his return. The two were devastated to see their son be carted off to prison after hitting rock bottom with his drinking. Marlena, a therapist, will also likely have many words of wisdom for her son when he returns to society after being locked behind bars for a year.

DOOL fans have a lot to look forward to in the near future. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, the characters of Austin Reed and Carrie Brady are also set to return to Salem soon. Days of Our Lives viewers can watch the story leading up to the big returns weekday afternoons on NBC.
