Brad Pitt: Skipping ‘Voyage Of Time’ Premiere To Focus On ‘Family Situation’

Brad Pitt will skip the Voyage Of Time premiere that he was supposed to attend on Wednesday as he focuses on his messy family situation. Pitt’s ongoing divorce with Angelina Jolie took a horrible turn when reports surfaced that the actor had allegedly physically and verbally abused one of his children on a plane this month.

Voyage Of Time, a Terrence Malick documentary about the history of time, is set to be released in IMAX theaters on October 7. The film’s IMAX version has been narrated by Brad Pitt, who was scheduled to attend its premiere at the California Science Center.

The actor said in a statement that his family situation rendered him incapable of doing so.

Brad Pitt Praises Voyage Of Time

“Terrence’s Voyage Of Time is an incredibly beautiful and unique experiential IMAX film for children and families chronicling the birth of time. I’m very grateful to be part of such a fascinating and educational project, but I’m currently focused on my family situation and don’t want to distract attention away from this extraordinary film, which I encourage everyone to see.”

According to USA Today, Pitt must give his official response within 30 days from the time Jolie’s divorce petition was filed (September 19). To make matters worse, the actor finds himself in the middle of allegations that he got drunk on a plane and went on a tirade of physical and verbal abuse toward one of his children. Although the actor denied the abuse charges, things will become clear once the investigation into the matter is completed.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie had secured their position as one of Hollywood’s most celebrated couples due to their 12 years together, during which time they expanded their family with six children, named Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne.

Sudden Change In Family Situation Affects Voyage Of Time

Recent events have brought a sudden and drastic change to this picture-perfect family, with Jolie citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their divorce and demanding full physical custody of all their children. She has offered to give Pitt only visitation rights.

The actor wants to shield Malick’s Voyage Of Time from the aftermath of his personal affairs. The California Science Center’s website invites viewers to attend the movie’s IMAX premiere with some lavish praise.

Voyage Of Time is a one-of-a-kind celebration of life and the grand history of the cosmos, transporting audiences into a vast yet up-close-and personal journey that spans the eons from the Big Bang to the dinosaur age to our present human world … and beyond.”

The film’s feature length edition of 90 minutes, narrated by Cate Blanchett, premiered on September 7. The IMAX version of the film will be 40 minutes long.

This is the second time that long time friends Brad Pitt and Terrence Malick have worked together, the first being in 2011 for the experimental drama Tree Of Life.

Brad Pitt Turns His Attention To Kids’ Welfare

The actor acknowledged that his recent family situation has deeply saddened him but added that the welfare of his children was the priority now. He appealed to the press to “give them the space they deserve during this challenging time.”

According to E! News, Pitt desperately hopes to see his kids who have been kept away from him since Jolie left. He is trying to figure out a way to work out the best arrangement for the kids and he wants to do it amicably and privately.

He is also reported to be extending his full cooperation to the investigation into the abuse allegations. The investigation is being carried out by the Department of Children and Family Services in Los Angeles County.

It remains to be seen whether Brad Pitt’s family situation has any effect on the fate of Voyage Of Time.
